Wunderlich: protective solutions for BMW against mud and reflections [PHOTO]

A varied series of accessories presented Wunderlich, which can be connected to two-wheeled models BMW, ranging from protections against dirt and mud to anti-glare ones for displays.

Handguards

A Wunderlich set proposed for R 1250 GS e R 1250 GS Adventure in different colours: white, smoky grey, black, transparent. The handguards feature an outward-facing “collar” to deflect splashes and let water or cold currents flow off to the side, while also offering a level of passive safety. A solution developed in transparent or colored thermoplastic material (acrylic), heat-resistant, anti-scratch and anti-breakage. They can be used regardless of the presence or absence of the heated grip, weights or "cruise control", as indicated. The examples are also listed: R 1200 GS LC (2013 – 2016), R 1200 GS LC (2017-), R 1200 R LC, R 1200 RS LC, R 1200 RT LC (2014-), R 1250 R, R 1250 RS, R 1250 RT, R nineT (2014 – 2016).

- Depending on the driving position, the view on the original mirror may be limited. For this reason, the use of the Wunderlich additional mirror (Art. No. 23640-000) is recommended. These mirrors attach easily to the supports of the two handguards and ensure a rear view without any restrictions.

Fairing to combat mud and water splashes

The overview of solutions appears varied and aimed at multiple types of specimens. For example, we highlight a double fairing designed by Wunderlich for the BMW R 1200/1250 GS, considering the rear frame and tightening the side openings. An embankment for impurities, gravel and mud that can be stopped or diverted before reaching the motorcyclist and any passenger, preventing the vehicle from getting too dirty. The design of the two fairings, with small grooves, is discreet. A solution consisting of a right and a left fairing, in addition to the fixing material, made of PP (polypropylene) plastic with a thickness of 3 millimeters and a dark colour. The width amounts to 478 millimeters and the height to 169 mm. It is dedicated to exemplars BMW R 1200 GS LC (2013 – 2016), R 1200 GS LC (2017-), R 1200 GS LC Adv. (2014-), R 1250 GS, R 1250 GS Adventure. The rear frame fairing for BMW R 1200 GS is offered at the price of €119,77 (VAT included).

Front fender extension

The original fender extension for specimens BMW R 1200 GS LC (2013 – 2016), R 1200 GS LC (2017-), R 1200 GS LC Adv. (2014-), R 1250 GS, R 1250 GS Adventure, is developed in dark colored ABS plastic material. Protects the engine crankcase, manifolds and oil radiator from dirt, splashes and stone chips. According to the indications, there are no vibrations, but it is not compatible with the large "Enduro" engine protection that can be purchased among the special BMW accessories. It is on sale at the price of €51,16 (VAT included).

Internal fender

A swingarm and shock area protection solution not compatible with Hepco&Becker/Krauser racks and side cover 43950-002/102 for BMW R 1200 GS LC (2013 – 2016), R 1200 GS LC (2017-), R 1200 GS LC Adv. (2014-), R 1250 GS, R 1250 GS Adventure. Protection from dirt for the shock absorber and its attachment, therefore also for the swingarm, manifold and rear area of ​​the transmission. Splashes on the passenger's calves and feet are also reduced. An accessory developed in fibre-reinforced ABS plastic anchored via a clip attachment to the rear frame and fastened via screw. On this occasion we do not recommend using or combining the rear mudguard with knobby tyres. The accessory is sold at the price of €163,93 (VAT included).

Protect feet

Foot protectors “Clear Protect” Wunderlich they are meant for models BMW R 1200 GS LC (2013 – 2016), R 1200 GS LC (2017-), R 1200 GS LC Adv. (2014-), R 1200 R LC, R 1200 RS LC (not compatible with the original BMW long spoiler), R 1250 GS, R 1250 GS Adventure, R 1250 R (not compatible with the original BMW long metal spoiler), R 1250 RS (not compatible with the original BMW long metal spoiler). A solution that diverts water splashed from the front wheel. According to the information, they do not take up much space and there are no effects on inclination and off-road driving, as well as on an aerodynamic level. Made of ABS plastic, their flexibility is highlighted if subjected to any falls or contact with the ground and they are connected using the fixing points. With matching kit and offered in transparent or gray variants, they can be connected both in the presence of original or Wunderlich protection bars. They are sold at the price of €194,69 (VAT included), following the indications.

Protection for passenger footrest attachment

Designed by Wunderlich for models BMW R 1200 GS LC (2013 – 2016), R 1200 GS LC (2017-), R 1250 GS, when it rains the passenger's legs and feet are present in the point between the frame and rear wheel where splashes of water and dirt are produced due to movement. They are small protectors that deflect precisely the residues, made of 2 mm thick lightweight stainless steel, in a set with support kit and in black color, according to the indications. On sale at the price of €92,17 including VAT, as reported.

Luggage rack with splash protection

Two small fairings dedicated to the rear part have also been developed BMW R 1200 GS LC (2013 – 2016), R 1200 GS LC (2017-), R 1200 GS LC Adv. (2014-), R 1250 GS, R 1250 GS Adventure. Two 339x136 mm PMMA (thermoplastic material) protectors with a thickness of 3 mm, which close the openings between the luggage rack and the rear frame. Impurities are blocked or deflected, protecting the suitcases and saddle from dirt and debris, as well as the passenger, according to the information. In addition to the fairings, the set includes the fixing material. This anti-splash protection for the “GS” series is sold at the price of €71,66 (VAT included).

Anti-glare protections

Like traces of dirt, reflections are also annoying, particularly when driving. Wunderlich reports one BMW 6,5 inch TFT “Connectivity Display” dashboard protector and also for Navigator VI di BMW.
The first solution dedicated to BMW Connectivity displays is composed of an anti-glare screen in UV-resistant ABS plastic that protects from sunlight while preserving the readability of the picture, following the shapes of the display and positioned via a clip system. A solution designed for the instrument panel of BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure models and which is also compatible on the C 400 -), F 750 R, F 2018 XR, R 850 GS LC (2018-), R 850 GS LC Adv. (2019-), R 900 R, R 900 RS, S 1200 RR (2017-). A protection proposed at the price is 1200 euros (VAT included).
Moving on to anti-glare protection for BMW models featuring the Navigator VI, it is functional to protect readability thanks to an anti-glare screen made of UV-resistant ABS plastic. It follows the shapes of the display and can be mounted using a clip system. The mobility and functioning of the navigator remain unchanged as well as the stability. This protection, according to the information, is on sale at the price of €30,65 (VAT included).
