Two significant goals for Voi Technology in the past year. The Swedish company specializing in electric micro-mobility recently celebrated its first two years of operation in Italy, being active in the cities of Turin, Milan, Rho, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Rome and Palermo. He reported that he had reached one million rides and exceeded two million kilometers traveled in a single year.

An alternative vision of city mobility

Considering the results obtained in 2020 and 2021, a growing trend is confirmed, recorded by the Sharing Mobility Observatory, already given an increase in trips of 61% in 2021 compared to 2020.
The concept of “City in 15 minutes”, the definition of “Cities made to be lived in – on a human scale”. The idea of urban realities developed so that citizens can satisfy their needs by moving no more than 15 minutes away from their home by electric micro-mobility, by bicycle or on foot. A perspective that has become central to the strategy of the Swedish multinational since 2019.
Among approximately 110 European cities evaluated by a Sony CLS study, the first Italian city in the ranking is Turin, where Voi has been operating since the summer of 2021, which appears in 16th place. Bologna, on the other hand, is in 23rd place and Genoa in 52nd. Other Italian cities are all present in the second half of the European ranking.
In realizing the 15 Minute City vision - Cities made to be lived in, the main effects are a containment of car traffic and therefore a greater saving of time to dedicate to activities and a better air quality with a decrease in CO2 and PM2.5 emissions .XNUMX in the environment.
Considering more than 1 million trips on Voi scooters throughout Italy for a total of over 2 million kilometers travelled, in light of the data released, 150 thousand trips in private cars were not made, thus avoiding the production of 27 kg of PM 2.5 and more than 41 tons of CO2.
A result that can be achieved by planting over 660 trees already 10 years old in the cities where the Swedish company operates.
