Voi Technology for the 4 anniversary has developed a new survey to understand the impact of micromobility services on the cities in which it operates and on the use of private cars, considering the possible use of an alternative means of transport such as an electric scooter. According to what was reported about the annual survey, taking into account 10.000 respondents at European level, the 37% of Italian users has reduced or replaced the use of private cars, given the presence of micro-mobility vehicles.

The survey

The survey was sent via email to a random sample of Voi users in the month of July. 9.898 responses were received from users in all 11 countries in which Voi is active. There were approximately 25 questions in the survey, including a segmentation question to involve only suitable respondents and a question to exclude invalid responses.
In Europe, scooters are used by users of multiple age groups, almost half of respondents over 45 years old indicated that they had significantly reduced their car use since they started using shared micro-mobility .
The survey also reveals a tendency to reduce the use of the car, as mentioned, including among the inhabitants of the city suburbs. More than 60% of those who live 30 minutes from the city center have reduced their car use thanks to micro-mobility services. On average the 14% of the trips Voi replaces a car trip with a scooter trip, according to the instructions.
Another important aspect is the connection between micro-mobility and other means of transport. More than 55% of Voi users indicated that they combine scooter rides with public transport (+ 47 % compared to 2021), highlighting the complementarity between sharing micro-mobility and public transport. Furthermore the 20% of users in Italy (and the 25% in Europe) only travels by scooter, confirming an ongoing change in urban mobility.
