Even an icon of two wheels like the legendary one Vespa it adapts to the times and crosses the threshold of electrical power. The historic scooter from Pontedera, with over 70 years of history and successes, presents ad EICMA 2017 a new important and revolutionary chapter in its evolution embracing zero-emission propulsion.

The. makes its debut at the Milanese motorcycle event Electric Vespa, a preview novelty that the Piaggio Group proudly displays and which almost certainly marks the path that the entire range of vehicles produced by the Pontedera company will take in the coming years.

Powering the new Vespa Elettrica is a propulsion unit with a continuous power of 2 kW and a peak power of 4 kW. The acceleration performances, explains the Piaggio Group, are superior to those of a 50 cc scooter with traditional fuel. The guaranteed autonomy is 100 kilometers, which become 200 in the X version which has a generator alongside the electric motor.

Recharging the lithium ion battery is simple: just take the appropriate cable located in the compartment under the saddle and connect the plug to a domestic electrical socket or to a charging column present in designated refueling stations. For a complete battery charge the time required is 4 hours.

The Vespa Elettrica is not only green but is also connected thanks to the many features integrated into the latest version of the Vespa Multimedia Platform which allows you to connect your smartphone to the scooter and manage it thanks to the digital instrumentation with color TFT screen.

The electric version of the Vespa, which will be produced entirely in Pontedera to be marketed starting next year, will be available for online bookings from spring 2018. The price has not yet been announced.
