The Piaggio Group is participating with two symbolic vehicles – the Vespa 946 and the superbike Aprilia RSV4 - and “Exhibititaly – Italian excellence of today”, an initiative that will be inaugurated in Moscow next Wednesday 12 September in the Krasny Oktyabr complex (the ancient chocolate factory Red October), an architectural icon of the city and today among the pulsating centers of Moscow's social and cultural life.

Presented today at Palazzo Chigi, the Exhibititaly program is particularly broad and prestigious and will create, from 12 September to 6 January 2013, a true "Italian space" in one of the most evocative and fashionable places in the center of the Russian capital.

European leader of motorized two-wheelers, and among the main global manufacturers in the sector, the Piaggio Group reveals to the eyes of the Moscow public the Vespa 946 scooter prototype , Aprilia RSV4 motorcycle. In the first case, it is an exclusive interpretation of the style of the first Vespa from 1946 (forefather of a success story that still knows no boundaries today) and, as regards the Aprilia motorcycle, one of the most powerful two-wheeled vehicles and fastest in the world, perfect symbol ofsporting commitment of the Piaggio Group which, with its brands, it has so far conquered 99 world titles in the field of motorcycling.

“The Piaggio Group is watching the Russian market with extreme attention” says Roberto Colanino, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Group. “Our range of two-wheeled vehicles is very broad in terms of both brands, models and technological contents, and can be of great interest to customers who are more attentive to large international brands, such as Vespa, Aprilia and Moto. Guzzi, and an Italian style famous throughout the world and immediately recognisable. In the field of light commercial vehicles, a sector in which the Piaggio Group is an international protagonist with production plants in Europe and Asia, our range can appeal to large segments of Russian professional users, both within fleets and individual customers. In this sector, with vehicles such as the Porter van in the zero pollution electric version, or in the bi-fuel version with very low environmental impact, the Piaggio Group has an offer of fundamental products for the light transport of goods in urban and metropolitan areas ”.

Vespa 946 it is the prototype which, unveiled for the first time at the end of 2011, anticipates the lines and technical solutions of Vespa for the coming years. Inspired by the first version of the Vespa, which saw the light in 1946, the style of the Vespa 946 draws heavily from the tradition of elegance of the most famous scooter in the world and offers highly classic lines in a very modern way, without giving anything up to the temptation of vintage, and indeed daring new aesthetic solutions and using noble materials such as aluminium. The engine represents the state of the art in technology: the single-cylinder 4-stroke, 3-valve 125 and 150cc engine that equips the Vespa 946 boasts an increase in performance with an extraordinary reduction in consumption which leads it to travel up to 55 km/litre , with a 30% reduction in polluting emissions.

Aprilia RSV4 it is one of the most technologically advanced peaks of the entire world motorcycle production, and the most important product of the Aprilia brand which, with 49 world titles won in just twenty years, and the the most successful European brand by far among the manufacturers active in motorcycling.
Characterized by the 1.000cc, four-cylinder engine with the exclusive "narrow V" architecture, the Aprilia RSV4 was WSBK world champion in the 2010 season with the rider Max Biaggi and is today in contention for victory in the 2012 World Superbike Championship. Last August 26th, with riders Biaggi and Laverty, the Aprilia RSV4 raced right on the brand new Moscow Raceway circuit which, for the first time, hosted a world-class motorcycle race in Russia.
