Two Wheeler and Powersports – Bosch has decided to dedicate itself more forcefully to the motorcycle market, where driving electronics are spreading very rapidly, by establishing a new business unit to become one of the largest suppliers in the sector.

Bosch's new business unit is called Two Wheeler and Powersports and will bring together all activities relating to safety, power and information display systems, to meet the needs of motorcycle manufacturers around the world. The goal is also to consolidate its know-how in the field of two-wheel systems. Two-Wheeler and Powersports will be part of the Bosch Mobility Solutions sector and will have its headquarters in Yokohama, Japan and branches in the United States, Europe, India and China, also dealing with special vehicles, such as quads, motorcycles water and snowmobiles.

Bosch's new business unit, the Two Wheeler and Powersports, was born from the global need to find accessible mobility solutions, especially for two-wheeled vehicles, which by 2021 will reach the threshold of 160 million pieces produced every year, i.e. a third more than today. With this in mind, Bosch will double its production of safety, power and infotainment systems over the next five years. Much of this growth will affect Asia, as in 2021, almost 90% of two-wheelers (mainly vehicles with engine capacity up to 250 cc) will be produced in China, India and Southeast Asia.

Bosch currently equips a wide range of two-wheel models with electronically controlled injection systems, drivetrain parts for electric vehicles and interfaces for connecting vehicles via Bluetooth or cloud services. Then there is the commitment to the reduction of consumption which in the Asian market will result in the progressive extinction of carburetors, still used on the majority of widespread "light motorcycles".
