Triumph Rocket 3 Storm R and GT 2024: the new generation becomes even more powerful [PHOTO]

La Triumph Rocket 3, the muscular heir of the historic Rocket III three-cylinder roadster launched in 2020, is renewed with a restyling that brings with it several new features starting from the name, which now adds the wording Storm to highlight the evolution of a motorcycle that maintains the engine and chassis of the current model, as well as the declination into the two R and GT variants.

What moves the new Rocket 3 Storm is the proven one 2.458 cc three-cylinder in-line engine with dry sump lubrication which raises power to 182 HP at 7.000 rpm and maximum torque to 225 Nm at 4.000 rpm. Consumption has also improved, with Triumph declaring 6,6 l/100 in the WLTP cycle, with a CO2 emissions level of 152 g/km.

Chassis largely confirmed 

Compared to the previous model, the new Triumph Rocket 3 Storm confirms the ride-by-wire, the torque-assisted hydraulic clutch, the 6-speed helical gearbox (now with shift assist available as an option) and the four riding modes (Road, Rain, Sport and Rider). Much of the chassis also remains unchanged, starting from the aluminum frame and the single-sided swingarm, as well as the Showa suspension and the Brembo braking system with Stylema calipers and 320 mm discs at the front and 300 mm at the rear.

Lighter rims

What's new are the aluminum rims, again 17 inches at the front and 16 inches at the rear, which adopt a new 10-spoke design which allows you to save 1 kg of weight. Even at the level of electronic equipment, the main features are confirmed with the 6-axis Imu platform managing ABS and traction control with cornering function, cruise control, color TFT instrumentation and keyless system. 

The vigorous R and the comfortable GT

Despite sharing technical characteristics, the two versions of the Triumph Rocket 3 Storm have a different approach: the R focuses on athleticism and vigor, while the GT winks at touring comforts. So on R version we find an almost flat handlebar, footrests adjustable to two positions (within a range of 15 mm), a seat height of 773 mm and a weight of 320 kg. On the GT, which weighs 3 kg less, there are instead a 125 mm higher handlebar, adjustable footrests in three positions (in a 25 mm range), a 750 mm high saddle, an adjustable backrest for the passenger and heated grips.

Both available with three double-tone colours, with colors reversed in position between R and GT, the new Triumph Rocket 3 Storm offer extensive customization possibilities by offering the possibility of enriching the bike with a list of over 50 official accessories including bags made by the Italian brand Givi.
