The engine from 2.500 cc that pushes the new ones Triumph Rocket 3 R and Rocket 3 GT is the key theme of a film proposed by Official Triumph Motorcycles.

A mighty heart

In the episode linked to Triumph Factory Stories, the Chief Engineer Stuart Wood talks about the engine and the peculiar technology linked to the new Rocket 3 specimens. Two specimens distinguishable by dedicated characteristics, such as a certain aptitude for driving consistency on the GT version, taking into account the driving position and other aspects such as the generous beach bar handlebar with internal cables, the single-sided swingarm with offset shock absorber and other details designed to maximize ride comfort. While on the Rocket 3 R a "flat" handlebar similar to that of the roadsters stands out, suggesting an equally connotative and less touristy setting compared to the Rocket 3 GT, which has a 750 mm high saddle designed for this use with a backrest that includes aluminum supports brushed and adjustable in height, as indicated. On the Rocket 3, however, the position of the footrests can be managed on two vertical levels (0mm / -15mm), as well as on the Rocket 3 GT via foot controls on three horizontal variants (-25mm / 0mm / + 25mm), as indicated. There is also no shortage of technological solutions including LED headlights, a second generation TFT instrument panel and others such as the aforementioned four driving modes and an IMU inertial platform.
They are both driven by the aforementioned engine it develops 165 horses at 6.000 rpm (11% more power than the same unit present on the previous generation) and 221 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. A strength to be compared to a low weight of 13%, estimating a saving of over 40 kg. Highlights also include a torque-assist clutch and ride-by-wire accelerator. The weather is also interesting acceleration of a Rocket 3 R example, highlighted through a video dedicated to the attempt: a 0-60 mph sprint in 2,73 seconds.
