Triumph Bonneville: the family is renewed after 15 years [MEGA GALLERY]

Two new engines arrive

The "classic" Triumph range is renewed and brings with it the new Bonnevilles. After 15 years the Bonneville family receives a profound renewal and presents us with 5 new models, the Street Twin, the Bonneville T120, the Bonneville T120 Black, the Thruxton and the Thruxton R.

At the London preview, Triumph didn't reveal much about the new range, but they will certainly change the engine and chassis, while the electronics will be massively integrated. Prices and dealership releases are expected between the end of the year and spring 2016. There will be two engines, a 900 cc and a 1.200 cc, with liquid cooling. The 900 cc engine has 80 Nm of maximum torque at 3.200 rpm, while the 1.200 boasts 105 Nm at 3.100 rpm for the HT (High Torque) version and 112 Nm at 4.950 rpm for the HP (High Power) ), reserved for the Bonneville T120 and Thruxton respectively. The 900 cc equips only the Street Twin, the simplest in terms of equipment and style, with a maximum torque of 18% higher than that expressed by the old air engine, while consumption is reduced by 36%.

The engine of the Bonneville T120 increases to 1.200 cc and gains 54% more torque compared to the previous generation Bonneville. The new engine will have two riding modes for ride by wire, namely Road and Rain. Furthermore, the Bonneville T120 it will be offered in 4 colours, "Cinder Red", "Jet Black" and the two-tone shades "Cranberry Red/Aluminium Silver" and "Jet Black/Pure White". But it will also be in the Black version, with a black engine and black “Jet Black” or anthracite “Matt Graphite” tank. The engine of the Triumph Thruxton will, however, be the 1.200 cc HP with 112 Nm of maximum torque, a value 62% higher than what was declared for the previous 865 cc "air" engine, but there will even be a track kit to increase CV even further. The crankshaft has been lightened and the compression is greater, while the electronics offer an extra map, the Sport. On an aesthetic level we have the semi-handlebars, the narrower tank with a snap cap that hides the lock, the single-seater type saddle and, above all, the spoked wheels with aluminum channels and sports tires (sizes 120/70-17" and 160/60-17″).

As for the R version we will have fully adjustable suspension, with Showa “Big Piston” upside down forks and Öhlins shock absorbers with piggy back, while the brakes are Brembo with monobloc front calipers with radial connection, floating discs and caliper with separate tank, for the satin rather than chromed megaphone exhausts and for the footpegs in knurled aluminum instead of rubber covers, and for the passenger seat cover.
