Drama at Dakar Rally, which is once again tinged with mourning. On the night of January 15th Carles Falcon has died, a 45-year-old Spanish motorcyclist, due to the serious injuries sustained in the accident which occurred on Sunday 7 January, when he had a disastrous fall during the second stage of the Dakar 2024.

The consequences of the fall in the second stage were fatal

Riding his KTM 450 Rally Replica, while he was a few kilometers from the end of the special stage from Al Henakiyah to Al Duwadimi, Falcòn, in his second participation in the Dakar after the one in 2022, fell and suffered a cerebral edema as well as a fracture of the C2 vertebra, of five ribs, of the clavicle and wrist. Immediately rescued and admitted to hospital in serious conditions, where he was also kept in an induced coma, the Iberian motorcyclist died in the last few hours.

His team's statement

Confirming the dramatic news is a statement released by the team for which Falcòn raced, TwinTrail Racing: “On Monday 15 January, Carles left us. The medical team confirmed that the neurological damage caused by the cardiorespiratory arrest at the time of the accident is irreversible. Carles was a smiling, active person and passionately loved everything he did, especially motorbikes. He left us doing something that was his dream, racing the Dakar. He was having fun, he was happy on the bike. We must remember him for his smile and for the happiness he generated in everyone – continues the team note -. Computer engineer by training and motorcycle instructor by passion, he taught with patience and made everyone have fun with the motorcycle. This is what he left us and what we will always keep with us. On behalf of the family and the team, we ask that you please maintain privacy regarding the funeral which will take place in the next few days. We thank you for your understanding."
