Between road and track: the new Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 roars at EICMA

The 4 HP V175 engine, suspension and brakes, combined with a racing chassis offer unparalleled performance

The narrow V architecture has allowed the creation of an engine with incredibly small longitudinal dimensions, favoring the centralization of masses

Aprilia – Without compromise and without rivals. Aprilia launches the new one on the market Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR, which brings all the technology and power of a superbike to the road. The major innovations concern the on-board electronics of the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 in which theAPRC - Aprilia Performance Ride Control -, the patented control system package directly derived from the winning technology in the Superbike world championship, the most complete and refined among those present in motorcycles in the same segment.

The Tuono V4 1100 range adopts the advanced multi-map Cornering ABS, developed in collaboration with Bosch to guarantee maximum safety on the road, without detracting from performance on the circuit. The 9.1 MP system, with its very low weight and dimensions, is able to optimize braking and ABS intervention when cornering, thanks to a specific algorithm which constantly keeps different parameters under control such as lateral acceleration, the pressure exerted on the front brake lever, the lean, pitch and yaw angle, modulating the action of the brakes to guarantee the best relationship between deceleration and stability. The ABS works in unison with Aprilia's RLM (Rear Liftup Mitigation) system, which limits rear wheel lift during hard braking. The Cornering ABS, developed according to specific Aprilia indications, can be adjusted to 3 intervention levels and can be excluded. To allow drivers of different experience and ability to find the best possible combination, each of the three Cornering ABS maps can be combined with any of the three engine maps (Sport, Track, Race). The latter are all three "full power" and differ in the way they deliver the 175 HP of which the Aprilia V4 is capable, as well as in the percentage of engine braking dedicated to each of them.

The color TFT digital instrumentation boasts exceptional display possibilities. The two selectable screens (Road and Race, both with night or day backlighting) correspond to the same number of indices represented. As an option, there is the V4-MP, the Aprilia multimedia platform that allows you to connect your smartphone to the vehicle, introducing a true corner by corner calibration system of the electronic settings, the data of which can subsequently be downloaded onto a laptop (or directly onto the smartphone screen) for analysis, as happens in racing. The V4-MP includes the infotainment system, introduced for the first time by Aprilia on the Tuono V4, for managing voice commands and incoming/outgoing phone calls from your smartphone.

Tuono V4 1100 is powered by a 65° V four-cylinder with unique characteristics. The narrow V architecture has allowed the creation of an engine with incredibly small longitudinal dimensions, favoring the centralization of masses and the creation of a compact chassis. The interventions adopted in this evolution of the Italian V4 have made it possible to increase reliability and general performance, without losing anything of the great character and wonderful sound so loved by motorcyclists. The engine adopts an exhaust system with silencer equipped with a double Lambda probe and integrated valve. The engine control unit has high calculation capabilities and is able to manage an increase in the maximum rotation speed of 500 rpm higher than the previous model. To ensure maximum reliability, while reducing friction, the piston pins are provided with DLC surface treatment, while the connecting rod heads boast a honing surface treatment. The combustion chambers are no longer obtained from a casting process, but from a finer numerically controlled mechanical manufacturing, while the gearbox is equipped with a linear sensor which guarantees flawless operation of the gearshift.

The Brembo front braking system comes directly from that of the RSV4 and relies on a pair of steel discs with a diameter of 330 mm, on which the M50 monobloc calipers act and on a radial master cylinder on the handlebars. The Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory also features a high-quality Ohlins NIX fork, fully adjustable in both hydraulics and spring preload. This unit saves approximately 400 grams compared to that of the previous series and is combined with the rear shock absorber and the steering damper (also adjustable) of the same brand.

The Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 range includes two models characterized by a different technical set-up and different color variantse: Tuono V4 1100 RR is available in two eye-catching colours, Portimao gray and Assen black, while the new Superpole graphics Tuono V4 1100 Factory, revised in the color combinations in which black and red now dominate, recovers that decidedly non-conformist spirit typical of Aprilia's stylistic tradition which demands bright and very distinctive colours.
