Thundervolt NK-E: the electric mini motorbike designed by Loris Reggiani

The power of 4 kW and a peak of 8 kW guarantee excellent acceleration and a top speed reaching 90 km/h

The lithium polymer battery from Thundervolt NK-E it delivers 72V and 40 Ah from start to finish, which means being able to go around the track "at full throttle" for half an hour

Thundervolt NK-E - Motoro Bike Expo was the venue chosen by Loris Reggiani to present his latest project: Thundervolt NK-E, the first electric mini motorcycle developed together with Joseph Sassi e Bruno Grebbi to race on the track with lots of fun and zero emissions.

Thundervolt NK-E: what is it

The Thundervolt NK-E was born from a very simple need: to carry the mini motorcycle where these cannot run due to noise problems or emissions. The founder of the project, the former pilot Loris Reggiani, tells it directly through a very funny anecdote: “A couple of years ago I stayed with my sister who has a track in Forlì, but she couldn't run the mini motorbikes due to problems related to emissions and noise. I suggested she buy some electric mini motorbikes, but there weren't any on the market and so I said to myself 'why not make them?'. My partners understood the importance of the project; we took almost two years to develop it because we wanted to do things right and I think I can say that we created a high-performance, fun and adrenaline-filled motorbike.“. Giuseppe Sassi echoes him: “Over the last two years we have worked a lot to develop the chassis, brakes and electronics. It's perfect for Sunday fun“. The third partner, Bruno Grebbi, already has his eyes turned to the future: “The NK-E is just the first step. We are working on something more advanced to have higher performance and who knows, maybe have a single-brand championship".

Thundervolt NK-E: how it's made

The Thundervolt NK-E, despite its small size, is a motorcycle with attention to every detail: single sided swingarm, tube trellis frame with high resistance which supports the motor inserted in the hub of a spoked rim in aluminum alloy that can be dismantled with five automotive-type screws. And the duration? And the throttle response? There power of 4 kW and a peak of 8 kW guarantee excellent acceleration and speed peak speed reaching 90 km/h. A software press du varies the engine braking curves, from acceleration to maximum speed. There battery lithium polymer battery delivers 72V and 40 Ah from start to finish, which means being able to ride on the track "at full throttle" for half an hour. For the recharge complete it takes about an hour, while the complete replacement of the battery takes place in a few minutes. The Thundervolt NK-E is equipped with front and rear disc brakes, with the latter's lever positioned on the left grip.

The Thundervolt NK-E seen by Loris Reggiani

"We are already thinking about a more competitive and high-performance bike because the federations are looking for bikes to hold electric motorcycle championships in the wake of the Moto-E championship launched by Dorna – Loris Reggiani told us -. We should have it soon. We will distribute communications to Italian kart tracks to invite owners to try the NK-E and then we will see what happens". "It is a perfect motorbike for an adult target who wants to have fun - he added -. Young people are more inclined to extreme bikes while this one is also great for the fifty-year-old who wants to carve out half an hour on the track to have fun. Acceleration and acceleration are remarkable. Anyone who tries it will have fun".
