At the bottom of the full-scale model is the signature of the graduates of the three-year post-diploma course in Transportation Design - BYT (Bike, Yacht and Train design) of the European Institute of Design in Turin. It was they who developed a prototype for MV Agusta. The starting point was the platform that the motorcycle manufacturer itself uses on new F3 powered by a 3cc 675-cylinder engine.
After having examined every detail present on the existing F3 and F4 models under the magnifying glass, the working group coordinated by Luigi Giampaolo (the full-scale Tricruiser model was created starting from an idea by Antonio Quitadamo. Francesco Cangialosi contributed , Jacopo Chiotti, Linas Degutis, Hyun-Seok Kim and Fausto Tuccio) moved to the operational phase. First it has analyzed the brand and defined the concept. Then he proceeded to transformation of the idea into a project, first in 2D and then in 3D. In conclusion, each graduate handed in his work. Of all those received, only one was admitted to the final stage that is, the creation of a full-scale model.
What emerges from the final result? Surely aggression. Added to this is the cleanliness of the lines and some particularities that do not go unnoticed. Like the lack of a pair of handlebars and the halving of the saddle length. The manufacturer explains that the two-wheeler is equipped with a 3 cylinders and 3 round exhausts conical shape which is characterized by a comfortable saddle that embraces the tank, for the separation of the headlights on the sides of the front and for the use of the front and rear light guides. And again, taking inspiration from sports cars, the Tricruiser brings back a multi-layer split fairing in which there are hidden air outlets which convey the flow outside through diffusers.
The Turin institute offers the opportunity to view the six style proposals created by the graduating students as part of one exhibition set up in its spaces. Open to the public until the end of September next year from 9am to 13pm and 14pm to 18pm. admission is free.
It should be noted that this is purely a style project developed by IED and is in no way related to the official projects of the MV Agusta Motor Spa company or its CRC Design center.
