The Black Douglas Motorcycle Sterling: 2017 range presented

A leap into the past without the fragility and costs of a vintage motorbike and above all comfortable at low speeds. This is the starting point of the thinking of Fabio Cardoni, an Italian entrepreneur and motorcycle enthusiast, who founded the company a few years ago The Black Douglas Motorcycle Sterling, which produces motorcycles in Italy that seem to have come directly from the anni 20. All entirely produced by hand with particular attention to detail, quality components and retro lines, which are combined with extreme discretion with the reliability of a modern engine.

For 2017 the company, based in Milan, has launched two "new" models characterized by engines: 125 cc capable of delivering 15,0 Nm @ 5500 rpm of torque and 250 cc at 21,0 Nm @ 5500 rpm, respectively , 9,5 kW and 11,5 kW of power. The Sterling Autocycle is powered by a single-cylinder 4-stroke air-cooled engine with 2-valve distribution and rocker arms, 5-speed gearbox.

Technical features
As you can imagine, they are not high-performance vehicles, but the real strengths are in their ability to offer a pleasant ride and the sensations of a beautiful vintage motorbike, combined with the reliability of a modern single-cylinder tested in dynamic tests and on the bench. . Although the tank does not exceed 9 liters of capacity, autonomy is another strong point of the Sterling Countryman which can boast a consumption of 30km/l.
The frame is a tubular steel, double beam overlapped with an open cradle. The front suspension is of the Girder type with a single hydraulic shock absorber. The braking system is drum with ABS system for 250 cc and combined braking for 125 cc.

The dimensions and accessories
The Sterling Autocycle measures 2180 mm in length and 830 mm in height and weighs just over 100 kg. Equipped with passenger approval, it is therefore able to comfortably accommodate two people.
Customization reigns supreme in this small but elegant British style motorbike, it is possible to choose from a wide range of colors for the bodywork and associated elements including horn, headlight, wheels and exhaust system. With a view to everyday use, a rear luggage rack is added, on which to mount the passenger seat, an elegant wicker basket, soft canvas side bags with leather trim or rigid leather-covered bags with lock.
