SWM, the legendary Italian brand is back

At EICMA 2014 it will present six models

SWM – SWM is coming back. The historic Italian motorcycle manufacturer famous for its regularity bikes in the 70s, started the project “SWM coming back” thanks especially to Ampelio Macchi, former Cagiva, Husqvarna and Aprilia engineer, and to the Chinese capital of Shineray Motorcycle Company.

It could only be theEicma in Milan, whose 2014 edition is now upon us, will open for the press on November 4th, the best opportunity for the SWM to be able to embrace its beloved public again. At the motorcycle show in the Lombardy capital the Italian brand will bring a range of models, six in total, enduro, motard and vintage, including a cafe racer, the Gran Milan 440, all built in Italy in the former factories ofHusqvarna, in Cassinetta di Biandronno.

The vintage cafe racer is powered by a single-cylinder 440 cc air-cooled, which favors torque and ease of use, therefore suitable for an audience of neophytes and feminine, also given its elegance, with classic half steering, radially mounted front brake calipers, high-firing exhausts and two nice circular instruments, completed by a nice brown/chocolate colour.

There will also be one basic version with less valuable equipment, a version scrambler, called Silver Vase, with knobby tires, high exhaust, flat seat, rear drum brake and many other details, which will surely be appreciated by the many enthusiasts of SWM-branded motorbikes, and most likely also a Gran Turismo, which like the basic model we will see only at EICMA 2014. As specified by Ampelio Macchi himself, prices will be decidedly below 6.000 euro.
