Suzuki Ryuyo: the GSX-R 1000 R created only for the track

The mille engine develops a power of 212 hp and a torque of 125 Nm for a weight of just 168 kg

The EM-PRO control unit (by Yoshimura like the racing exhaust system) is also decidedly sophisticated, which simplifies power management, but not only that, also intervening on the injection, fuel and limiter management

Suzuki - When we tried it a few months ago in Imola, Suzuki GSX-R1000 we liked it a lot, an easy and intuitive bike, with a super engine and 600cc handling. However, we had found a couple of small defects for use on the track, easily solvable, suggesting that Suzuki give enthusiasts a "track-ready" version ”. And our requests, evidently shared by many, have been accepted with the new one GSX-R Ryuyo, which however brings much more to the table than we would have liked! Carbon to lose weight, electronics to become more powerful and sharp, but not only. Made by Suzuki Italia, it was unveiled in these hours.

Suzuki Ryuyo: track animal

Is called Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Ryuyo, in homage to the Japanese circuit owned by Suzuki that the Japanese company uses for the development of its motorbikes, and in fact Hamamatsu's new creature was created precisely for this purpose, to have fun around the curves of a track. Motorcycle born in Japan yes, but also with a very Italian heart, given that the project that was developed starting from the standard "Gixxer 1000", was carried out largely by Suzuki Italia and it is no coincidence that it is precisely the tricolor arm of the company to have disseminated the first images of a long-awaited novelty. As we were saying, the Ryuyo was created for the track and for this reason there is no room for frills such as license plate holders, indicators and rear-view mirrors. Instead, the Yoshimura racing wiring is adopted, which replaces the original one, simplifying everything, given the absence of controls for lights, indicators and horn. It is an essential component for eliminating everything superfluous, especially in terms of weight and reliability. What matters most is well hidden within the fairing: we are talking about the powerful four-cylinder mille engine, capable of developing a power of 212 hp (+10) at 12.900 rpm and a torque of 125 Nm (+8) for a motorcycle which weighs only 168 kg (the standard stops at 202 in running order)!

Suzuki Ryuyo: how it's made

For Ryuyo, Suzuki has completely abandoned the concept of half measures, choosing components and solutions suitable for a motorbike created to provide top-level performance. For the exhaust, the Japanese company opted for a Yoshimura 4-in-1 system in titanium: it is a purely racing solution which also made it possible to lighten the overall weight (it alone is worth almost 6 kg less weight than to the standard Euro 4 version). The EM-PRO control unit is also decidedly sophisticated, also by Yoshimura and which simplifies power management, but not only that, also intervening on the injection, fuel and limiter management. The control unit offers two fully customizable maps, three levels of brake adjustment and the pit limiter option, just to underline the sporty soul. Also decidedly Racing is the Euro Racing EVO3 rapid throttle control, which is made using solid aluminum alloy and has three types of response depending on the movement of the wrist, with the three rings regulating standard use, one semi-rapid and one dedicated to the track.

As for the chassis, we have the top of the line components, with an Öhlins TTX GP monoshock, Öhlins NIX30 cartridge for the front fork, Öhlins SD030 steering damper, but also the short-stroke Brembo RCS radial brake master cylinder and, as well as many other "exaggerated" details ”, the upper steering plate made to Suzuki Italia specifications by Bonamici Racing stands out. On standard bikes it will be personalized and will show the bike's chassis number. It is an aluminum plate, completely machined from solid material using numerically controlled (CNC) machines with 3D technology. There is also no shortage of racing button panels, whose look is based on those of the MotoGP. The list of changes is very long, we have only mentioned a few, for a total value of around 40 thousand euros of racing components. A perfect bike for those who want to take to the track with something "exaggerated", from a certain point of view, but above all already configured and perfect for enjoying a real rider experience.

They will be realized only 20 specimens of this "pornographic" Gixxer, with a really interesting price, if you think about the value of what was given to it by the Suzuki technicians. In fact, you can book online and the check to be written will be € 29.990 €, until 31 January 2019. Ryuyo will be on sale starting from Saturday 10 November 2018, after the official announcement which will be given directly from the Suzuki stand at EICMA. A dedicated email is now active for any information on this special GSX-R 1000 R (ryuyo@suzuki.it).
