Suzuki Katana: the evolution of the model for 2022 [PHOTO]

Suzuki Katana, a motorcycle with strong technological and sporting characteristics, is further refined from an aesthetic and technical point of view, considering advanced electronic control systems and features that strengthen its performance.

Design

The profile remains sporty, with clear and sculpted features when looking at both the front area and the compact rear area. Among the updates, we highlight a key handle with the Katana logo printed on it and in particular the new distinctive colors and matte finishes that cover the model. It is a Tokyo Blue it's a London grey to which we must add other details: the fork is now painted in a golden colour, the rear suspension spring has become gray and no longer red, the covering of the passenger seat has black sides and the wheels are now in a color matching contrast.
The light clusters with a distinctive light signature, like the rear one, are all of a type LED and in the area behind there is a small rear mudguard supported by the swingarm connected to the rear wheel. The saddle placed at a height of 825 millimeters it is developed on two levels and is two-tone gray and black, therefore a compact silencer develops upwards and is dark in colour. It is possible to customize the model by opting for solutions from the original accessories line.

Technique and technology

The riding position is raised with a slimmer portion of the saddle near the tank. The updates also include the elastic elements associated with the handlebars. The rubber parts located between the upper triple clamp and the handlebar supports attenuated the extent of vibrations, as indicated.
The frame is a double-beam aluminum frame, as is the swingarm. The suspension part includes an upside down KYB fork 43 mm adjustable with a range from 120 mm and behind it a linkage mono-shock with a stroke of 63 mm. The rear suspension is also adjustable.
The braking system, with Bosch ABS solution, includes radially mounted Brembo monobloc four-piston calipers associated with a pair of 310 mm floating discs.
The motorbike features updated digital instrumentation on an LCD screen and various indicators, as well as other updates or innovations regarding the various electronic controls connected to the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS). New features such as the “Scegliiltiro” system – Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) with A (Active), B (Basic) and C (Comfort) mappings; the “Cambiarapido” System – Bi-directional Quick Shift System and the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) assisted slipper clutch, but also updates in the case of the “Aprisereno” System (Suzuki Traction Control System) with five intervention modes and which can be deactivated.
Also mentioned are the Suzuki Easy Start System devices and the “Partifacile” – Low RPM Assist system, which facilitate the start-up and departure phases.

Motor

The water-cooled four-cylinder in-line engine 999 cc it is inherited from the GSX-R1000 with a setup for road use. A drive unit compliant with the regulations Euro 5. The propulsion system is associated with a new ride-by-wire electronic accelerator control and the 4-into-2-in-1 exhaust system has been updated.
Power has increased compared to the previous model by two horsepower, now reaching i 152 horses (112kW) at 11.000 rpm with a maximum torque of 106 Nm at 9.250 rpm.
