Dedicated dress and equipment for a tribute to the historic Katana 750 by Hamamatsu, on the occasion of the Verona event

A special in the stand Suzuki to the review Motor Bike Expo di Verona. Event scheduled from 16 al 19 January 2020. A unique specimen named Katana 7584, referring to a concept from which this project originated, as reported. A vision that refers to the historical Katana 750, from 1984.

The samurai sword

katana it is a name linked to the recent muscular maxi, also proposed in the more refined and exclusive Jindachi version. A version with an enlarged fairing, stickers, two-tone saddle and specific exhaust, which make its appearance distinctive. Model of one varied overview of proposals present at the event Verona.

The special

Remembering the “Katana Shark” of the 1984, distinguishable by the retractable front light and details in blue, matte gray and gold; on the specimen Katana 7548 (Bed “seven five eight four”, ed) we worked on the livery using a matte grey, instead of the traditional colour, as well as a graphic definition that follows the profile of the motorcycle in CosmicBlue, Red Lipstick e Metal Gold. A colourful, sporty and captivating picture.
In place of the logo Suzuki a “Big labels”, which refers to the style of the specimens GSX-RR of the Team Ecstar MotoGP. Some changes were also reported, such as the more streamlined sides and the lack of air intakes above the Katana logo. Furthermore the Kanji Katana is present in Metallic Gold, taking the indications again.
Moving on to the equipment: the windshield is enlarged, the front mudguard is completely made of carbon and the two-tone red/black saddle. All components included in the Genuine Parts catalogue. Therefore a complete discharge is also indicated Yoshimura with steel manifolds and R-11 terminal, satin finished steel anchor with stainless steel bottom carbon, always referring to the specifications.
The thrust is provided by the four-cylinder engine that already powers the katana. An evolution of the unit present on GSX-R1000K5 that it can generate 150 horses of maximum power. A heart embraced by a rigid and compact aluminum frame, to which a 43 mm KYB upside-down fork is also attached, as mentioned. Support electronics are also highlighted, citing systems such as the for example Suzuki Easy Start System and Low RPM assist, as well as a braking system consisting of front braking calipers Brembo with radial connection e Bosch-ABS, spelling out the directions.
What is also interesting is what is reported in the first lines of the press release: “For the moment, it is a one-off version, a one-off, but nothing denies that it cannot become a limited series in the future.”

The historic

In 1981 Suzuki made the first katana proposing something new in the sector, considering the appearance and the same “integration between motorbike and rider”. The lines drawn by Hans Muth “they became like a sacred text for every designer and engineer”, as mentioned.
But already in 1984 with the Katana 750 a new chapter was introduced, an evolution of concept. More sinuous shapes, almost adapted by the progression, therefore a connotative retractable headlight which led to the profile being compared to "a shark", arriving at the nickname “Katana Shark”, as mentioned. Compared to a glossy grey, the details in blue, white, matte gray and gold accentuated the aesthetic rendering of the example. A new vision of dynamism on two wheels.
