Suzuki GSX-R750 Yoshimura, the charm of the "gixxer"

While waiting for the new revolutionized 1000, the 750 is still making conquests

We tried it at the beginning of the season and, despite the fact that it is still one of the last sports cars of the "old school", without even ABS, as well as almost all the "electronic toys" that are so appreciated on the latest models, we couldn't help but fall in love with it. When you get back on a motorbike and in your pocket you have a mobile phone with a cover with the opening photo of the road test that you wrote (terrible, we know, but we like it), you can't help but be happy. It's cold, at the first braking point you try to make you find yourself fighting with the front wheel closing and every time you try to raise it the rear instead slides quite a bit, before regaining grip and taking the front towards the sky. Sensations that require you to drive it carefully, but which are rewarding less filtered emotions, of those that will increasingly disappear in the future, rightly (at least in part) sacrificed on the altar of security.

We wanted to film it during testing to take some shots, after having seen it at Eicma, at the Suzuki stand, near one of the queens of the entire show, the concept of the almost definitive motorbike on which the Hamamatsu company is aiming for its relaunch in competitions and beyond. only: the new GSX-R1000. Although attention was concentrated on it with all the thousand new features, from the pressurized Showa fork to the technological goodies such as variable valve timing, launch control and much more, a seven-and-a-half example of the "Gixxer" was photographed by many visitors of the salon, mounted on a pedestal in a champion's bend pose. Two tweaks on the computer, the background changed and you could fool yourself into thinking you were a real pilot. For us, however, the Yoshimura version with the official coloring came back to mind, we found it again when we returned the small Address 110 that we recently tried and we couldn't avoid a second round of waltzes, even if limited by the winter that freezes the asphalt and the shoes of our beloved dance partner.

There are many super sports bikes, each manufacturer has its own, from Honda's CBRs to Yamaha's "Rs", up to Kawasaki's Ninjas or the fascinating Ducati Panigales. Without forgetting BMW with the S1000RR, Aprilia with the RSV4, but the list is still long. Each in their own way manages to make their customers fall in love with them. In an era where choices are increasingly rational, where the market prefers usability to absolute performance, comfort to emotions, whoever chooses a motorbike like this is aiming for what, as true enthusiasts, we believe is what matters even more than everything else, that irrational component that makes us lose our minds and feel a strong sensation in our stomach, as only a beautiful woman can do. Already in the road test, when describing it, we couldn't help but compare it, by analogy of sensations that it can provoke, to love and sex.

Gixxer is a nickname that those who love Suzuki sports cars will know well, but more than a distortion of the acronym that distinguishes it, it is a way to introduce a philosophy with which it interprets being super sporty. Suzuki has always managed to give it a soul, just as the MotoGP GSX-RR seems to have one, maybe it's the color, maybe it's the shapes, but many consider it the most beautiful bike. Not yet being able to have the new creature in our hands, the surprising GSX-R1000 which promises to be the new reference for the competition, this GSX-R750 Yoshimura with this color is a way to analyze the "Gixxer" concept again, waiting for the older sister to see if she will be able to live up to expectations. In her own way she still manages to surprise, to give strong emotions and to attract glances, perhaps more feminine than masculine... who knows why.

We don't want to talk to you about his numbers and technique 150 rabid horsepower or Showa front BPF (Big Piston Fork) fully adjustable, electronic steering damper and not even the list price just under 13 thousand euros, for this reason and to know everything you need you can re-read our road test, this time we just wanted to accompany you in viewing the photos, let them speak, while waiting (who knows) of a third meeting as soon as the temperatures allow us to take her for a walk in the place that best suits her: the curbs of a track.
