La Suzuki GSX-8S is a sleek street fighter built around a new platform shared with the V-strom 800DE. Two different bikes, given that the other is a Sport Enduro Tourer, both powered by a parallel twin-cylinder heart.

The motorcycle

The street fighter features superstructures that immediately reveal its sporting nature, ranging from the streamlined fairing and the overlapping LED front light unit, continuing with the design of the side conveyors and the tank, up to the terminal area of ​​the motorbike. The panels allow a look at the mechanical part and the trellis frame, made up of steel tubes.

As on the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, also on this example the engine is managed in an integrated manner with all the on-board electronics from Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS), considering:

– the Suzuki Easy Start System and “Partifacile” – Low RPM Assist devices;
– the “Aprisereno” system – Suzuki Traction Control System adjustable on three levels and deactivated, the ride-by-wire accelerator;
– the “Cambiarapido” system – Bi-directional Quick Shift System;
– the “Scegliiltiro” system – Suzuki Drive Mode Selector – with three driving modes.

The most generous chassis dimensions in comparison with the respective category are functional for habitability and dynamism on the road, also in light of a balance between tuning and weight distribution.
The front fork is KYB with upside down legs and at the back there is an aluminum swingarm with a KYB monoshock, operated via a progressive linkage. The braking system includes four-piston radial-mount front calipers, combined with a pair of floating discs. 310 millimeters. The wheels are both alloy 17 inches and fit 120/70 and 180/55 tyres. The range of matching original accessories is varied.
The bike can dress up three liveries and the dominant colors are White Oslo, Sydney Blue e Black Dubai.

A shared propulsive heart

The engine is a 776cc parallel twin with DOHC twin camshaft distribution with four valves per cylinder. It is characterizing the 270° crank mechanism, a scheme that, based on the information and taking into account the burst sequence, allows for a favorable torque curve and a strong sound. A relatively long stroke of 70 mm is also highlighted, with a decisive push from low revs and a progressive delivery.
Vibration containment is favored by a patented Suzuki Cross Balancer system which involves the action of two rocker arms placed at 90° with respect to the crankshaft. The engine is associated with a six-speed gearbox with a different ratio compared to the new V-Strom 800DE, together with an assisted clutch and anti-hopping system.
In compliance with the Euro 5 regulation, the power hits the mark 83 horses (61 kW) at 8.500 rpm and the torque reaches 78 Nm at 6.800 rpm.
