Suzuki GSX-8R arrives at dealerships with a price of €9.700 [PHOTO and VIDEO]

The new Suzuki GSX-8R, a modern sports car from Hamamatsu that inherits the racing character of the legendary GSX-R, debuts in dealerships, ready to offer power, handling and comfort through an agile and high-performance motorbike to satisfy the rider in every context: in the city, on winding mountain roads and on the track.

On the Suzuki GSX-8R everything is designed to give the best feeling and maximum control: from the parallel twin-cylinder engine, to the frame with aluminum swingarm, to the forged aluminum handlebars, to the upside down fork and finally with the full LED lighting and 5-inch color TFT instruments.

776 cc twin-cylinder engine with 83 HP

The style of the GSX-8R is visibly linked to Suzuki's sporting heritage, with the compact, aggressive and sharp design of the fairing and lines that end in a slender and sleek tail. What drives the new sports car from the Japanese manufacturer is the twin-cylinder engine of 776 cc (shared with the Sport Enduro Tourer V-STROM 800DE and the Streetfigther GSX-8S) which delivers 83 CV of power e 78 Nm of maximum torque, like the GSX-8S. The engine is combined with a 6-speed gearbox with SCAS assisted slipper clutch. The GSX-8R is also available in a detuned version for A2 license holders.

Electronics

On an electronic level, the GSX-8R has refined controls integrated into the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System like the system, the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector with three engine maps (Active, Basic and Comfort), the Suzuki Traction Control System which can be adjusted to three levels and can be deactivated, the ride-by-wire accelerator, the Suzuki Easy Start System and Low RPM devices Assist and the bi-directional Quick Shift System.

The Suzuki GSX-8R has a steel frame, designed around the engine, with a rigid and compact structure, which carries the total weight of the bike at 205 kg in running order with the 14 liter tank full. Then there is the aluminum swingarm which determines a wheelbase of 1.465 mm. The bike has a seat 810 mm from the ground. The driving dynamics are taken care of by the Hitachi Astemo (Showa) front and rear suspension specific for the GSX-8R with SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston) fork and a progressive monoshock with preload adjustment. Suzuki's new sports car features 17-inch alloy wheels with Dunlop RoadSport 2 tires in sizes 120/70 and 180/55, while thebraking system at the front it is made up of two 310 mm discs with radially mounted four-piston Nissin calipers, while at the rear there is a 240 mm disc with a single-piston caliper.
