Suzuki Burgman Fuel Cell – We don't think about it very often, but how much are the carbon dioxide emissions of law enforcement vehicles? Let's be clear, the safety of our cities comes first, but if it were possible it would be right to also pay attention to the reduction of CO2. That's what they thought in the shadow of Big Bang, given that the Metropolitan Police will be equipped with Suzuki Burgman powered by hydrogen. A green change desired by the mayor of London who decided to supply his agents with seven examples of this eco-friendly model from the Japanese brand: the Burgman Fuel Cell.

The trial will last 18 months and will allow the effectiveness of this vehicle to be assessed in routine police activity, as well as providing useful data for more sustainable mobility even among the police forces, moreover without any outlay by the Met, given that the vehicles were provided free of charge by suzuki motor corporation. Maintenance and fuel costs will be financed byServices (Advanced Propulsion Center) which is an integral part of this project in addition to the main partner Intelligent Energy which together with Suzuki GB e Cenex is developing alternative combustion systems.

"We are grateful to Suzuki and our partners for making this project possible – declared the commander Neil Jerome -. Through innovative collaborations and trials like this, we can gain real-world experience in providing London with an environmentally friendly service. As we are the largest police service in the UK, we have a large number of vehicles on the roads and so it is our aim to try to make our fleet as clean as possible whilst maintaining operational capacity.".
