Suzuki Bike Day 2022: many participants in the event for cycling enthusiasts [PHOTO]

Numerous cycling enthusiasts have come to Imola for the second edition of Suzuki Bike Day, scheduled last 9 July between the “Enzo e Dino Ferrari” racetrack and the roads trodden by professionals during the 2020 Cycling World Championships. Over 1.800 people took part in the event, more than three times as many as those present in Carpegna (Marche) on the occasion of the first Suzuki Bike Day last year.

Il Suzuki Bike Day it took place thanks to the collaboration of the Local Administrations of Imola and Riolo Terme and the commitment of many volunteers, active in preparing the route and making it safe.
A key role was played by the “Enzo e Dino Ferrari” racetrack and its President, Giancarlo Minardi, who made the track available on which the Bike Day village also took shape. Just as the partners who supported Suzuki in organizing the event.
A beneficial occasion given that with a minimum registration fee of 5 euros, to which several free offers were added, over 12.000 euros were raised and donated to the Marco Pantani Onlus Foundation. The funds raised will be used to finance projects to support people in difficulty and promote the spread of cycling and its values.

It was a day of outdoor activities together with well-known faces in sport, riding muscle bikes, e-bikes and handbikes. The large group of participants also trod the route on which the Road Cycling World Championship took place. A 28,5 km route, largely closed to traffic for the occasion, which allowed the athletes to challenge gradients of up to 15-16% with evocative views to admire, but it was also a party for families of enthusiasts and cycle tourists who moved calmly, also focusing on the views of the Emilian Apennines.
Among the athletes mentioned on the occasion: the former Technical Commissioner of the National Cycling Team and President of the Emilia-Romagna APT Davide Cassani, the Olympic skater Carolina Koster, the rugby player Aura Muzzo and numerous athletes of the FISG - Italian Sports Federation Ghiaccio including Francesca Lollobrigida and Martina Valcepina, Davide Ghiotto, Yuri Confortola, Arianna and Pietro Sighel, Luca Spechenhauser, Andrea Cassinelli and Tommaso Dotti. Also present were the Paralympic swimmer and snowboarder Riccardo Cardani and the pentathlete Giorgio Malan.
