In recent days the Chamber's Transport Commission approved an amendment which delegates the Government to work with clear guidelines on road infrastructures, which also provide for the affixing of the device saves motorcyclists.

This is an important milestone that will commit the Government to issuing a legislative decree dedicated to road infrastructures, with punctual indications on the third strip of guard rails

A battle carried on for years by the IMF

A result that is welcomed positively by IMF, Italian Motorcycle Federation, which has been working for years together with ANCMA to highlight the vulnerability of motorcyclists in the event of impact with guard rails and which expresses its gratitude for the sensitivity and interest shown to the signatories of the amendment in question.

The Ministry of Transport has already started a discussion table between experts in the sector (including the IMF), which is working on modifying the Toninelli decree currently in force, with the aim of making it more usable for public administrations. In essence, we are trying to encourage municipalities and other road owners to make barriers safe for motorbikes.

The words of IMF president Copioli

Satisfaction was expressed by the IMF president John Copioli: “After the recognition of vulnerable motorcyclists and the possibility for 125 cc vehicles to travel on motorways, there also comes the placement of the motorcyclist-saving device on the guard rails: I am very grateful to the work of the Intergroup for supporting motorcyclist mobility and all the deputies who supported this amendment."

After the approval in the House Commission, the Highway Code reform bill (AC. 1435) will reach the House floor in March, and will then continue its process in the Senate.
