Shark Spartan Carbon, at the top of the road range

Shark Spartan Carbon – In recent years, the French brand has also enjoyed great success in our area, thanks to products which, perhaps more than all the other brands on the market, have been able to amaze and innovate, giving a different and successful image to the Shark brand. In 2016 it already sold the helmets that had been distributed throughout 2015, confirming this trend. Last year, after its debut at Eicma 2014, we had the opportunity to appreciate the attention to active safety of the Skwal which thanks to the LEDs makes the most important element of a motorcyclist clearly visible, as well as the one positioned highest. Another recent innovation is the new Evolution One, modular with double approval capable of allowing the use of the visor even with the chin guard open. Improved in some aspects, it continues to have great success, despite having a rather high price (around 407 euros) for a helmet with an injected thermoplastic resin shell and not fiber.

2016 continues for Shark with interesting news, thanks to the launch of new top of the range for the Pulse, the family of premium helmets dedicated to road use, while the most extreme models from the Racing division are suitable for use on the track. In this case it is about a product that combines elements such as the aggressive carbon shell left in sight, with others dedicated to comfort. In fact, the Spartan Carbon presents itself as the quietest helmet on the market. For this reason it has been positioned on the side mechanism of the visor a “sharkskin” insert, which allows a significant reduction in noise. The system "Autoseal” completes the soundproofing regarding the visor, while a great deal of work has been done on the inside of the helmet, to channel the air and to make the structure more enveloping, in order to avoid noise at speed. The presence of an interesting one is a demonstration of this foldable chin strap, thanks to a small internal frame.

The merit of a result that promises to be an absolute reference also goes to the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) with which the air flows were studied and optimized, both in terms of comfort, but also to guarantee excellent ventilation and aerodynamic stability of the helmet. However, in the rear area there are fins which have the dual function of stabilizing and allowing the extraction of hot air, lowering the temperature inside the helmet. On the security front, the FEA (computer simulation of multidirectional crash tests).

For the rest, it is a helmet for road use, so it also includes an internal sun visor, very large and which also covers the lower part, unlike many others which end up annoyingly cutting off the field of vision. The carbon shell is available in two sizes and covers 6 sizes, including XXL for the first time for Shark. The weight and external dimensions are very low, with size M even stopping at 1.290 grams. There is no shortage of system Easy fit to comfortably put on your glasses, the Pinlock , Bluetooth ready. For now we have had the opportunity to touch an almost definitive example first-hand, because the Spartan Carbon will debut in stores in mid-June, with a list price of 406,70 euros and three color options: all carbon (DKA), carbon and red (DDR), carbon and white (DWS).

It is a motorcycle helmet at a very advisable price as it is the best there is

  • Guys... bought it three days ago. Amazing helmet...very light, and finally a well-made ventilation system. It works and you can hear it, when the temperature dropped last night I even had to close the vents.
The sun visor is of great value, it extends a lot: it does not cut into the field of vision and above all it has a frontal flow diverter, it allows you to keep the visor open with the sun visor lowered without having annoying flows in your eyes.
And then... the silence, without equal.
So far, the best €400 spent since I've been riding motorbikes....
