Sergio Robbiano, one of the most appreciated designers in the world of two wheels, died today due to a tragic collision with a truck on the provincial road of Laccio, in the municipality of Torriglia (about thirty kilometers from Genoa). According to initial reconstructions, Robbiano lost control of the motorbike he was traveling on and the impact was fatal. The police and emergency services intervened immediately, blocking the road, but were unable to do anything but confirm his death.

Sergio Robbiano, born in 1966 in Palermo and resident for some time in Genoa, he was one of the most esteemed motorcycle designers of the recent past. He had worked in the CRC (Castiglioni Research Center) and thanks to his contribution he was practically considered the father of the Ducati 916. That model, however, was not the only one in a career that also includes other very high profile works such as Cagiva Mito EV 125, Bimota 500 V2 , Bimota DB5. He was one of the favorite students of Massimo Tamburini, the “Michelangelo of motorcycling”, He also recently passed away after a long illness.
