SEAT MO' 125 Performance: road test of the 100% electric sports scooter

The performance version of the Seat MO' 125 is being tested

Customer research and loyalty is a broad and complex topic, a theme on which all companies try to propose new ideas and solutions in order to have customers who are increasingly attached to their brand. Seat it certainly stands as the home of the Volkswagen group which is aimed more at young people and therefore offers vehicles suited to the needs and budgets of its customers. So here it is Seat MO', the division of the Spanish brand dedicated to alternative mobility. After the proposal linked to scooters in 2020, it was presented MO' 125 electric scooter, sold in more than 15 countries 10.000 units in just 2 years and further developed with the performance version subject of today's test.

Technical features

This version is characterized by an electric motor capable of delivering 11,5 kW of peak power which allows the scooter to reach 105 km / h top speed, 10 more than the standard MO' 125. Then there is the eBoost function which allows you to have an extra sprint lasting 30 seconds when traveling at speeds greater than 80 km/h in Sport mode. This function, which can be activated from the mode button on the right block, allows for example: overtaking more easily or have more acceleration when entering fast roads. The battery has one capacity of 5,6 kWh e the declared autonomy is equal to 133 km in the WLTP cycle. This Performance version is then capable of accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in just 2,9 seconds. Important changes have also been made at the level of cycling with the adoption of a mono Öhlins rear shock absorber adjustable and a fork with gold color coating. Also the braking system, equipped with integral braking, is powered up thanks to Galfer and petal discs are installed at both the front and rear. Seta MO' 125 Performance is offered in new colors Tarifa Blue and Barcellona Grey, both enriched by details in black colour such as fairing, handlebar rockers and passenger handles.

Drums come away with me

An important feature for an electric scooter is the charging management. Seat offers an interesting solution thanks to the Removable battery equipped with wheels and handle like those found on travel trolleys. The release operation involves the use of a cylindrical key to unlock the safety lock and a lever placed under the saddle. At this point the battery slides out laterally and thanks to the wheels it is easily transportable despite the weight of approximately 40 kg. Anyone who has the possibility of keeping the scooter near a traditional household socket can do so recharge without removing the battery.

So here we are in Barcelona for the road test of the Seat MO' 125 Performance. As soon as you sit down you can feel the padding of the room very supported saddle but with the correct shape that unites with the new Alcantara upholstery allows you to be "connected" to the scooter in a firm and safe way. The ground clearance is slightly high while the platform is completely flat to the full advantage of practicality. “Started” the electric motor starts and emerges good acceleration and the total lack of vibrations. Electric driving is decidedly better than traditional driving, especially in the city with constant stops and starts. In fact, in addition to being silent, the electric one is very bright also in City mode, one of three possible additions to Eco and Sport. The asphalt in Barcelona is in excellent condition but given the presence of some speed bumps we can understand how the asphalt works new suspension. Theirs operation is very good, only the rear shock absorber is a little dry on the more decisive reliefs but in the test it was on a rather rigid calibration. This setting gave excellent results on the most ridden stretch of the test, where the scooter proves to be composed and stable and with a dynamic and sporty driving. The brakes, with adjustable levers, they are powerful and using the Sport and Eco riding modes are aided by regeneration during braking to recharge the battery. On the motorway stretch we were able to verify the self-limited maximum speed of 105 km/h, in the sense that the engine regulates the power delivered to never exceed this value. At these gaits you can also notice the poor protection from the air at the torso and head level, while the shaped shield protects the legs only sufficiently. The ideal terrain for the Seat MO' 125 Performance remains the city, even if on a cycling level it does not disdain winding roads full of curves. In the test we had the opportunity to also evaluate actual autonomy. To cover the 42 km route we used 50% of the battery capacity. This data was obtained without saving on gas, especially on the motorway stretch and in Sport mode, it is therefore correct to assume that a given in line with the declared of 133 km, moving more around the city in Eco and City modes.

Pricing

The price list Seat MO' 125 Performance is set to 8.900 €. This figure does not take into account government incentives that bring the price to 5.760 euro. It is then possible to purchase it with a loan in installments from 99 per month for 48 months and a advance of 1.400 euro.
