SEAT: new e-Scooter and e-Kickscooter concepts and a strategy for urban mobility [PHOTO]

On the occasion of the 9th Smart City Expo World Congress

New concepts presented at the Barcelona event, including the first SEAT e-Scooter, linked to an urban mobility strategy

A new operational unit defined SEAT Urban Mobility, A new e-Kickcooter concept it is the first e-Scooter concept on which the signature of the Spanish brand is visible. Three announcements, during the ninth edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress di Barcelona, concerning an urban mobility strategy.

The new e-Scooter concept

The business unit will bring together solutions consisting of products, services and platforms aimed at mobility, in particular the market launch in 2020 of the aforementioned e-Scooters, prefigured by the concept introduced on the occasion. An entirely electric example characterized by a refined design enriched by geometric and peculiar shapes, aimed at both private users and companies that deal with sharing services. The brand SEAT collaborate with Silence, Mark Barcelona which makes scooters and will take care of them in the a Molins de Rei. According to the instructions, the underseat cargo compartment can accommodate two helmets. Customers can monitor the location or charging range through a dedicated app. The concept di e-Scooters signed SEAT features a 1.5-litre engine 7 kW, reaching a peak of 11 kW corresponding to 14,8 horses which refer to what is proposed by a traditional one 125 cc, as well as a torque of 240 Nm taking the relevant indications. Can reach i 100 km/h, touching i 50 km/h in just 3,8 seconds. The estimated autonomy per single charge reaches i 115 kilometers, considering the reported tests WMTC extension. The battery is removable and rechargeable at home or at public charging stations, at an estimated cost of 0,70 euros per 100 kilometres, always following the indications in the dedicated press release.

The other news

Returning to SEAT Urban Mobility, the collaboration with representatives and authorities continues to verify the introduction of concepts such as SEAT Minimó, presented in the last edition of the Mobile World Congress. Furthermore, we highlight the integration of Respite, the car sharing platform used in Madrid and recently in the city of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, made up of sustainable vehicles that use compressed natural gas (NCG) soon joined in turn by Electric Mii. The new business unit is also designed for the management of the service kicksharing branded SEAT, in collaboration with the start-up UFO enabled by SEAT: CODE, the new software development center, as reported.
Another aspect mentioned on the occasion DGT 3.0, a pilot project in collaboration with the Spanish traffic authority aimed at real-time communication between vehicles, traffic lights and motorway messaging panels to optimize traffic flows and safety, and therefore also the driving experience itself. The strategic unit with the insertion of Respiro, the launch of thee-Kickscooter, the introduction of the SEAT Minimó concept and now also the first e-Scooter, all appear to be evidence of constant dedication in the field of urban mobility.
A further novelty is also the concept of the new generation of e-Kickscooter, i.e. a renewed prototype of electric scooter that would guarantee autonomy of up to 65 km, thanks to a larger capacity battery from 551 Wh and two independent braking systems. The current generation, SEAT EXS from 2018, has reportedly reached over 10.000 units.
