The Scrambler® Icon, Full Throttle and Nightshift models

The new family of specimens Scrambler® was presented in the seventh episode of the web series Ducati World Premiere 2023. An overview composed of the models Scrambler® Icon, Full Throttle e night shift, characterized by distinctive colours, new instrumentation and solutions such as Ride by Wire, Riding Mode and Quick Shift.

The new Scrambler® proposal

The aesthetics appear redefined, while confirming the connotative characteristics of the family. The style is immediately recognizable in the motorcycle scene, associated with lively and manageable dynamism.
This new generation presents in a new guise a direct and lively form, typical of every Scrambler®, powered by an air-cooled Desmodue twin-cylinder engine and combined with a trellis frame. Other characteristic aspects include the wide handlebars, the low center of gravity and advanced electronics. A symbiosis of elements that characterize the three Scrambler® Icon, Full Throttle and Nightshift models, distinguishable in terms of aesthetics but similar in layout and with a low weight.

From an aesthetic point of view, the new Scrambler® family preserves a peculiar design, which evolves in the different connotative elements. It starts from the DRL (Daytime Running Light) front light signature with four sectors of the circular motif, a recognizable element of the most current, elegant and clear Scrambler® panorama. The badge confirmed "X" of the projector, which is now full LED.
The steel tank has also been redefined, equipped with an interchangeable cover which, in addition to the mudguards and the details on the headlight, characterizes the bike from a chromatic point of view and allows for easy customisation. The anodized aluminum covers, present below the tank, define the new design in the front area.
Also present one new instrumentation with 4,3-inch color TFT and with Dedicated HMI. The design is symbiotic, considering the style of the new generation. Another crucial factor from a technical and visual point of view is the Desmodue twin-cylinder engine with new clutch and alternator covers characterized by the "X" style, while the belt cover plates now have a more refined shape, keeping in mind the new style. The evolution also concerns the exhaust with minimalist aesthetic features and a characteristic turn of the collectors.
The design of the rear light has also been renewed, which remains full LED, while maintaining the characteristic semicircle shape and the directional indicators are also LED.

The models and also a clothing capsule

Scrambler® Icon represents the Scrambler® essence and is distinguishable from the new tank which allows its customisation. The colored portion is a cover that can be changed, the same goes for the fenders, the tags on the rims and the small headlight covers. In addition to the three standard colors of '62 Yellow, Thrilling Black and Ducati Red, six more are offered as accessory kits, in total nine different liveries for this new Scrambler® Icon. Among the colors there are Rio Celeste, one of the lightest shades; Jade Green which recalls jade with a faint shine; therefore also Velvet Red.
The highlighted features also include a lower handlebar and closer to the rider to facilitate greater control of the vehicle, a redefined saddle with a more tapered shape and black underseat side panels with Scrambler® graphics.

Lo Scrambler® Full Throttle It represents the sportiest vision of the range and evokes US Flat Track competitions. A sportiness highlighted by the saddle and its covering, by the dedicated livery in Red GP19/Dark Stealth and by the black finish of the exhaust heat shields and the front side covers. The side number plates with the number 62 above also stand out and refer to the year 1962, the year of the debut of the first Ducati Scrambler® in perfect Tracker style, as well as a sump guard.
Then there are: a shorter front mudguard, Ducati Performance LED indicators, a tail without the rear mudguard, red tags on the alloy wheels, the approved Termignoni silencer and, as standard, Quick Shift up/down.
A Rosso GP19 seat cover is also offered as an accessory, which allows for a sporty single-seater appearance. Just as the riding position is bold, noting a lower handlebar with a variable section compared to that of the Scrambler® Icon.

Then, there is Scrambler® Nightshift, the example that conveys a marked elegance linked to the shiny and matt surfaces and with more classic details such as a stitched saddle and in the dark leather color, which refers to the Cafè Racer models. The Scrambler® Nightshift also features side number plates, it also has a minimal front mudguard and does not have a rear mudguard. There are also black finishes for the aluminum aesthetic details, as well as compact LED directional indicators.
The Nebula Blue color and entirely black spoked rims enhance the vision of the Nightshift model. This features a variable section handlebar with a flat shape and bar-end mirrors, again in Café Racer style.

For enthusiasts there is also a selection of accessories and clothing. For example, there are three proposals for the exhaust developed by Termignoni, starting with an approved silencer with a black finish and contrasting ring, available in yellow, red or blue; or a complete non-approved steel exhaust, mounted in a high lateral position in perfect Flat Track style, with black finishes and accompanied by dedicated mapping for the control unit (an accessory not approved for road circulation). Then a third short silencer, not approved and also made of steel, again with a black finish and complete with dedicated map. It will always be possible to choose the color of the contrasting ring from the three available shades.
The catalog includes others accessories including the covers already mentioned, the saddles, various elements machined from solid material including mirrors, footrests, tank caps, and therefore soft bags, by consulting the online configurator.
One also mentioned Milestone capsules, which features casual-style clothing designed for motorbike travel or daily use. There are technical and lifestyle garments together with a jet helmet with an external shell in rigid and resistant composite fiber developed in collaboration with Arai, as well as gloves and a technical jacket made up of a soft shell with protectors and a water-repellent internal down jacket that it can also be dressed individually. The jacket is available in men's and women's versions.
The line also includes Downtown C1 trousers, Company C4 jeans and Downtown C2 ankle boots.
Also mention a Hybrid sweatshirt for men or women and designed to combine the concepts of sweatshirt and down jacket, then a variety of other garments such as t-shirts, sweatshirts and a cap. The capsule can be purchased in Ducati dealerships or via the online shop.

Technical aspects

The 4 kg lighter, the new generation of Scrambler® also presents renewed contents starting from a new chassis. The frame remains trellis but is updated, the weight is lower. The swingarm is also new and is associated with a shock absorber relocated to the central area of the vehicle. The weight of the engine has also been reduced through interventions and the rear subframe is separated from the chassis.
The steering angle is also interesting from a dynamic point of view, slightly increased to facilitate maneuvering and urban traffic. The circles remain from 18 e 17 inches, considering the front and rear areas, characterized by a new design.
Moving on to technological solutions, management is introduced Ride-by-Wire of the accelerator which allows the use of the Ducati Traction Control with two Riding Modes Associates: Road e Wet. The second is designed for driving on wet asphalt with a less impulsive accelerator response and a traction control calibration more focused on stability. There is also a solution as standard ABS cornering.
With the help of Ride by Wire, the new generation of Desmodue can be equipped with Quick Shift up/down, present as standard on the Full Throttle and offered as an accessory on the others.
The accessories also include the Ducati Multimedia System, which allows connection with the smartphone.
The connotative Desmodue it has evolved from a content point of view and, as mentioned, the weight has been reduced by approximately 2,5 kg compared to the previous generation. This has been associated with a new eight-disc clutch, characterized by softer activation, according to the indications. A more compact clutch with the reduction of the lateral bulk of the cover, offering more space for the motorcyclist's foot. There is also a gear shift drum mounted on bearings, for smoother gear changes.
