Scrambler Ducati: a future vision from the contest in Pasadena

In the contest aimed at students ofArtCenter College in Pasadena Peter Harkins' work was selected. Among the ten projects introduced, imagining one Ducati Scrambler of the future, an idea was selected characterized by details and concepts aligned with the values ​​of the brand, as emerged.

Perspective ideas

Over the course of three months, ten complete projects were delivered, judged by designer Jeremy Faraud and Andrea Ferraresi, Director of the Ducati Style Centre, as well as the Scrambler Brand Unit, evaluating each work on the basis of: presentation, quality of the technical statements, design and prospective vision.
The same Andrea Ferrarese, Director of the Ducati Style Center, underlined this initiative as “an interesting exchange experience”, an opportunity that came to life thanks to this contest with the ArtCenter College of Pasadena, coming into contact with different ideas and cultural backgrounds. Different interpretations of the Scrambler brand, with rather varied ideas imagining its future. Peter Harkins' work was judged the most successful, keeping in mind the setting itself and complete with details and proportions. A way of seeing the Scrambler projected forward, but always confirming the values ​​of the brand, lightness, simplicity and the connotative X signature of the front headlight. Harkins himself, thanking Ducati and the ArtCenter College, underlined his enthusiasm for the opportunity to work at Ducati alongside other expert designers to increase their knowledge in the field.
Examples of electric Scramblers were imagined, foreseeing a use more linked to the urban landscape, while others like the selected project were studied for versatile use, or "all-round", as emerged. The latter is a better choice, also because it is more closely linked to the Ducati Scrambler.
The new connotations were presented last January Scrambler Ducati 1100 PRO and Scrambler Ducati 1100 Sport PRO, refined expressions of the brand's dynamism, powered by an 1100 cc L-twin engine with Desmodromic distribution.
