Scooter Sharing – After sharing bicycles and cars, Milanese people will be able to choose the scooter to get around the city. Milan thus expands its offer of shared mobility. "Whatever means of transport in Milan must also be available in sharing", said the councilor for Mobility and Environment, Pierfrancesco Maran. “I am sure that, as happened with car sharing services, there will be various operators who will want to contribute to changing the face of city mobility, and there will be many Milanese people who will take advantage of this new service. The future of mobility is this: being able to count, at any time, on a convenient means of transport to get around, without being obliged to purchase it." The scooter sharing service is part of a project to create a broader and more diversified mobility service complementary to local public transport and, as for bike sharing and car sharing, it will be available upon payment of a fee proportional to the time of use and kilometers travelled.

In Milan to date, the number of motorcycles registered are: 156.736 (ACI data), 93.400 mopeds (Amat estimate). Scooter sharing will be accessible to citizens who have completed it 18 years. As regards the possibility of traveling with two people on a single scooter, the choice is left to the subjects who will participate in the tender, depending on the characteristics of the vehicle. All scooters will be able to park freely in the city, within the limits of legality, and must be recognizable through the logo of the Municipality and of the individual manager positioned along the sides of the vehicles. For each scooter put into service the agreement also provides for it to be activated, by the individual managers, a minimum investment of 100 euros for the creation of courses aimed at young people on road safety to be held in city schools according to a program to be agreed in advance with the municipal administration.
