Pirelli: new challenges in the 2023 motorcycle racing seasonPirelli: new challenges in the 2023 motorcycle racing season

Various sporting commitments are planned for Pirelli in the new motorcycling season, starting as early as next week with the first round of FIM Superbike World Championship in Australia. Innovation and technological development remain top factors in the brand's competitive activity here too 2023.

A presence on the track and in off-road challenges

Pirelli will participate in over 100 motorcycle competitions at an international and national level, on the track and beyond, appearing in some cases as a sole supplier and in others among the tire specialists involved in the challenge. In addition to the competition in the FIM Superbike World Championship (single tire since 2004), we also remember the presence in the FIM Endurance World Championship, in the Italian Speed Championship, in the British Superbike, in the France Superbike Championship and in the German IDM Championship.
Tires are used in these competitions Pirelli DIABLO Superbike e DIABLO Super Race. Moving on to off-road competitions, a presence in the FIM Motocross World Championship is expected, where the brand has a list of 79 world titles and will be the official supplier until 2025, as mentioned.
The brand will also appear in the FIM Supercross World Championship (WSX) and in the AMA Supercross, without forgetting other national motocross championships. SCORPION MX tires are used in these cases.

New for 2023

The commitment to competitions is part of the history of Pirelli for over 115 years. The news this season mainly concerns the world championship context of derivatives from the series. It starts with the introduction of one SC0 front soft compound after the expansion of the DIABLO Superbike range with rear solutions in softer compounds, the SCX types in 2020 and SCQ in 2022. The development now concerns a SC0 front product in soft compounds which aims to balance the grip offered by the soft solutions on the axle behind. A novelty proposed to pilots from the first European races and with constant development throughout the year, to make this type a standard solution for 2024.

Another novelty is theentry into the DIABLO™ Superbike range of the SCQ rear, available last season for Superbike riders. It is an extra soft compound designed to maximize grip in the short term and can be used especially in the qualifying phases. In some cases, last year it was also used to cover the 10 laps of the Superpole Race and in some local championships.
Responding to the requests of customers, riders and promoters of national championships, Pirelli has included this solution in the DIABLO™ Superbike range, as mentioned. From this year it will be available in the various championships and for professional and amateur riders who want to use it. A product that will still be developed in the Superbike World Championship, in order to obtain greater mileage to tackle the 10 laps scheduled in the Superpole Race on the various tracks.
Then in the Supersport class one will be introduced new increased size 125/70, already offered to Superbike riders and alongside the 120/70 type. A solution designed to have a refined balance of the front axle with the rear one.

Finally, we also point out a new set for the WorldSSP300 series. From the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna round at Misano, the fifth on the calendar, the protagonists of the Supersport 300 World Championship will use a new set of DIABLO Superbike tires in the SC1 front and SC2 rear compound, which uses a percentage of renewable materials instead of those of fossil origin, as reported. From the first round, compared to previous seasons, the riders will not use an SC1 rear compound, but an SC2.
