Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR, the new knobby on/off enduro tire at Intermot 2016

Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR – Pirelli presents Scorpion Rally STR, the new on/off enduro tire specifically designed for the latest generation of adventure, dual purpose and street enduro motorcycles.

The Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR is visible as a world preview at the Ducati stand at Intermot 2016, because it has already been selected by the Borgo Panigale company in the sizes 120/70 R19 M/C 60V M+S TL front and 170/60 R 17 M/ C 72V M+S TL rear as original equipment for a new model in the Ducati Scrambler range.

Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR was designed for the latest generation of adventure, dual purpose and enduro street motorcycles capable of tackling long journeys and excursions, including off-road passages. Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR offers off-road performance combined with excellent on-road behavior in terms of handling, grip and stability. The main technical characteristics are the compound with a high silica content, which offers excellent grip in all conditions of use and high mileage, the profiles and structure of a road nature, which guarantee a high level of handling on the road, and the 'innovative tread design, to provide both traction on dirt roads and stability on asphalt.

The main advantages and benefits offered to the motorcyclist by the new Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR are excellent off-road traction, thanks to the new tread design, ed behavior on the road that boasts easy handling, stability and grip on both dry and wet surfaces. The tread design of the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR is that of a true knobby optimized for road use thanks to the increase in the rubber surface in contact with the ground under the footprint area. The tread features a totally new geometry and ratio between the height and width of the block and is presented on the market as an absolute novelty. Thanks to this measure, Pirelli has managed to obtain an increase in stability on the road without compromising off-road traction. The large central blocks ensure a larger footprint area, thus increasing stability when used on the road even at high speeds and at the same time reducing wear. The large central grooves allow the blocks to penetrate the ground offering first-rate offroad traction.

The Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR will initially be available from January 2017 in the sizes supplied with the new Ducati Scrambler but over the course of the year the range will be expanded with further sizes.
