Pirelli MT 60 RS: now also on Scrambler Sixty2 [PHOTO]

It is part of the enduro street line

Pirelli MT 60 RS – After being chosen in 2014 for Scrambler, the tire from Pirelli's enduro street line, the MT 60 RS, expands its range by also equipping the new model of the Ducati Scrambler family, the Scrambler Sixty2, which is being tested these days by the international press in the streets of Barcelona, Spain.

The new Scrambler Sixty2 is fitted as original equipment with Pirelli MT 60 RS tires in the front size 110/80 R 18 M/C 58H TL (the same as supplied to the Scrambler 800) and in the new rear size 160/60 R 17 M/C 69H TL which is better suited to the new 399 cm3 model than the 180/55 R 17 M/C 73H TL version which instead equips the 800 versions of Scrambler, including the new Flat Track Pro. Now the Pirelli MT 60 RS can also be purchased in the size front 120/70 ZR 17 and rear 180/55 ZR 17 both with speed index (W) in brackets which are added, together with the rear 160/60 R 17 of the new Scrambler Sixty2, to the other sizes already in the range. The Pirelli MT 60 RS has long been present in Pirelli's enduro street tire range, a reference for the segment thanks to its ability to combine sporty road performance with excellent grip even on unpaved roads. The new Ducati Scrambler family was the opportunity for Pirelli to develop new sizes and redesign this product in terms of specifications and performance. The tread design of the new sizes (including those for the Scrambler family) features larger blocks of variable dimensions along the circumferential development which create a pattern with multiple pitches compared to the single-pitch pattern that characterized the tire in its original version. The new geometry of the knobs is fundamental in road use where, usually, knobby tires perform less well than those created for road use only. In this case the new tread design, thanks to a significant decrease in the full/empty ratio and the increase in the contact surface with relative reduction in the mobility of the block, has allowed a notable improvement in braking traction and a reduction in noise.

The compounds are another important component of the Pirelli MT 60 RS. A compound that derives from a sports tire such as the Diablo Rosso II is now used on the front, with a balanced content of silica and carbon black capable of guaranteeing high grip on both dry and wet surfaces. As for the rear, however, a sport touring-derived compound with a high silica content is used which ensures long distances and high grip on wet surfaces. The structure of the front tire has also been redesigned compared to the original version of the product and, from radial with crossed belts, it has become radial with 0° steel belt, for greater stability and driving precision.
