Contract extended for another three seasons

A lasting bond between the Milanese tire manufacturer and the series-derived championship

The partnership between Pirelli e Dorna WorldSBK Organization. The Italian brand is the official supplier until the 2023 season for all classes of Motul FIM Superbike World Championship.

Extended agreement

Continues for three more seasons the current supply expiring in 2020, according to the contractual clause, thanks to the agreement between the company and the promoter and organizer of the World it's the same International Motorcycling Federation, as reported. An extension that is an integral part of Pirelli's 360° activity and commitment in different sporting competitions.
An active bond since 2004. One of the first examples of a single supply in the international motorsport series, which later became more widespread. Not only a tire manufacturer but also an active partner of the World Championship, strengthening the very identity of the series, transferring the construction experience acquired onto the series product. A constant evolutionary path, considering that already in 2013 Pirelli, the first among the various tire manufacturers, has abandoned the 16,5 inch size in favor of tyres 17 inches, used more generally by enthusiasts. So in the 2018 a move to larger sizes, 125/70 front e 200/65 rear, as indicated, standard from 2020 in WorldSBK Championship.

Agree with Dorna WSBK Organization e END, from 2020 the classes of World for derivatives from the series they will only use tyres slick of the overview Diablo™ Superbike. So from next year also the categories WorldSSP e WorldSSP300, in addition to the new one Yamaha R3 bLU cRU European Cup, will have products that guarantee high performance by replacing the carved models Diablo™ Supercorsa SC, taking up what has been reported.
The rear tire sizes shown in World SBK are 200/65, while the front ones 125/70 as mentioned. According to regulation, they can be used to the maximum 11 front covers e 13 back during each appointment. It also increases the size of the rear tire WorldSSP, now 190/60. On weekends it is possible to employ 8 anterior e 9 rear at most. Two alternatives for the front SC1 e SC2 in the range as well as two others for the rear SC0 e SC1, in every appointment. Anyway: “Pirelli reserves the right to replace a standard solution with a development one during the season”, makes himself present on the occasion. The quantities do not change and the sizes of the compounds remain unchanged WorldSSP300 (110/70 SC1 to the front and rear from 140/70 SC1 o SC2 depending on the route), despite the introduction of slicks. They stay 3 front and the same rear.
Pirelli, considering customer requests, has also established that the rear SCX extension proposed only in FIM Superbike World Championship as an extrasoft prequalification option, usable during the Superpole® but also usable in competition, it becomes part of the range Diablo™ Superbike, therefore available in the series and for those who wish to use it, according to the instructions transmitted.
