Pirelli – This weekend the Spanish MotorLand Aragón circuit will host the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship for the sixth consecutive year. For Pirelli this appointment, the first of the year to be held in Europe and which hosts all the Championship classes, will be particularly important. The tire brand will be the Event Main Sponsor of the Spanish round which is thus called the Pirelli Aragón Round. This sponsorship, which this year will also be repeated on the occasion of the Italian Riviera di Rimini round at the Misano World Circuit which will take place in April and in the German one which will take place at Lausitzring in September, confirms Pirelli's interest in investing in the Championship for derivatives from the series as a development platform for its tires and as a showcase of international visibility for the brand.

Again on the occasion of the round in Aragon, on the Monday following the racing weekend, Pirelli will have the international sector press test the brand new Diablo Rosso III supersport tyre, developed thanks to the experience and knowledge acquired in these thirteen years as the Official Tire Supplier of the FIM Superbike World Championship. The Ciudad del Motor de Aragón, commonly known as Motorland Aragón, is a circuit located in the town of Alcañiz and has a rather aggressive asphalt, especially on the rear tires but not only. Its surface has a strong roughness which, combined with the not too high temperatures typical of the month of April and the possible presence of sandy residues transported by the wind, can become an important unknown, particularly in the early hours of the morning, causing severe wear and tearing from the cold. . The sand that deposits prevents optimal contact between the tread and the asphalt and thus causes loss of grip when traveling and drifts towards the center of the curve.

At MotorLand Aragón, Pirelli, to meet the needs of all classes, brought 4484 tires and will make mostly range Diablo Superbike and Diablo Supercorsa SC tires available to the riders with some new development solutions. As regards the SBK class, there will be a total of seven Diablo Superbike slick solutions, three front and four rear, in addition to the rear qualifying tire which can only be used by riders who access the second Superpole session. At the front available to the riders there will be the S1 development SC1699, a solution much appreciated by the riders already in the first two rounds as well as being the most used front solution in 2015, and the two standard solutions, SC1 and SC2. The SC1 takes to the field for the first time this year, it is the softest range front compound designed for low external temperatures and moderately severe circuits, it maximizes the footprint and the "presence" of the front as well as being the solution favored by riders who prefer a predictable tire that tells them directly when they are about to reach the limit of grip. It is usually preferred to the SC2 in the case of circuits with significant depressions because it guarantees the absorption of shocks and vibrations (chattering) as well as providing greater grip, especially when cold. The SC2, already present in the first two rounds, is the medium hardness solution, optimal for high external temperatures because it guarantees solidity to the tread band and is the one favored by aggressive riders who prefer the compactness of the tread band as well as greater solidity, stability and driving precision and when entering corners.

As for the rear, ci first and foremost, it will be the standard SC0 which has already appeared in Thailand and which features a soft compound that is excellent for tackling smooth asphalt and high temperatures, offering maximum footprint on smooth asphalt and maximum development of traction at high temperatures as well as the highest stability to thermal decay of performance. It is the most used rear solution by far in the Superbike World Championship. The standard SC1, which has an average hardness of the compound which is positioned halfway between the soft and hard solution, is instead the most popular solution when, perhaps due to too cold or due to particularly abrasive asphalt, the SC0 cannot be used. The third solution is represented by the SC1 development U0989, more supported at the hip level to offer greater support to the rear. The fourth and final alternative is the standard SC2, the hard solution of the range which is used with severe and abrasive asphalts and/or in low external temperature conditions. Thanks to its characteristics, the hard compound is able to guarantee excellent resistance to cold tearing (i.e. the tearing of the rubber from the tread band) and wear.

The Diablo Supercorsa SC is also a protagonist in the smaller classes: the Superstock 1000 has tires in the SC1 rear and SC2 front range compounds available throughout the year, while the WIL Sport European Junior Cup will use SC2 rear and SC1 front. All classes of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, in addition to dry tires and in case of adverse weather conditions, have Diablo Rain wet tires and intermediate Diablo Wet tires available.
