Pirelli Angel GT, best sport touring tire

The new Angel GT, a tire that Pirelli introduced on the market in April and which was the protagonist of a unique press launch on the flight deck of the Cavour aircraft carrier of the Italian Navy, was elected as best sport touring tire from the authoritative Motorrad magazine.

The 12/2013 issue of the German magazine compared the new Pirelli Angel GT with Metzeler Roadtec Z/8 Interact M/O, Bridgestone T30, Continental Road Attack 2, Dunlop Roadsmart 2 and Michelin Pilot Road 3. All tires, in sizes 120/70 ZR17 front and 180/55 ZR17 rear, were mounted on six motorcycles Suzuki Bandit 1250 S.

The Motorrad editorial staff took into consideration evaluation parameters such as handling, steering precision, cornering stability, cornering stability with sporty riding, grip when leaning, traction during acceleration, straight-line stability, behavior in extreme conditions, maintaining the trajectory during braking when cornering.

This is the final result of the comparison in which the Angel GT stands out, followed by the Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact tied with the Bridgestone T30, with all the other participating tires in fourth place:

The Angel GT was declared the winner thanks to its class-leading wet behavior combined with the sportiness characteristics that have always characterized the long P brand. The new Angel GT is in fact the spearhead of Pirelli's sport touring range and is the natural heir of Angel ST, a multi-winning tire in the comparative tests of prestigious international motorcycle magazines as well as holder of 7 world durability records. Compared to its predecessor, Angel GT increases mileage by 30%, reduces braking distance by around 1 meter (at a speed of 75 km/h), also improving grip and handling on wet surfaces and, even more importantly, it manages to maintain these high characteristics over time, a property that Pirelli summarizes with the formula “Performance Mileage”.

After being certified by the prestigious independent body Motorrad TestCenter as the number one tire in the sport touring segment in terms of mileage and after the excellent reviews that appeared in the most important international magazines in the sector, the result of this comparison is yet another confirmation of appreciation for the work carried out from Pirelli which once again demonstrates that it is capable of launching products on the market that are always capable of offering an edge over the competition.
