Piaggio MP3: the renewed three-wheeled scooter with ARAS driving assistance systems

An aesthetic and content evolution for the three-wheeled scooter Piaggio MP3, the vehicle that in 2006 proposed a new concept of urban and metropolitan mobility. A renovation introduced online.

Three versions

The renewed range consists of three variants powered by innovative and lively engines from the HPE - High Performance Engine family. Specifically: the specimens Piaggio MP3 400 hpe e Piaggio MP3 400 hpe Sport with a 400cc unit and a horsepower of over 35 horsepower; therefore the Piaggio MP3 530 hpe Exclusive, the flagship model with a new 530 hpe e over 44 horsepower of power. Compared to that of the previous 500 hpe example, there is also an increase in torque to support the gear.

Aesthetic and technological renewal

The new Piaggio MP3 features a completely redefined front, larger and more protective, is equipped with a new full LED headlight unit developed horizontally, as reported. In the center there is a small and sporty air intake with a three-dimensional honeycomb grille, while the setting of the lower area is the result of a functional aerodynamic study for greater stability.
Various references to the most recent stylistic choices in the automotive field are indicated, considering the more accentuated and sporty front end and the directional indicators integrated into the wheel arches. Also highlighted is the layout of the rear part characterized by tense features that project towards an optical group made up of a single horizontal element full-LED, under which there is an extractor. An area that appears streamlined and rational, with the license plate holder located on the rear wheel. A new look for the Piaggio MP3 model.
Moving on to technological solutions, the vehicle is combined with a keyless system which allows you to start the scooter without inserting the key.
Along with the improvements regarding ergonomics, a 7 inch full color TFT display (the largest screen in the category) and new motorcycle-style controls. A choice that facilitates the use of the various features available, such as the connectivity system PIAGGIO MIA with pictogram navigation included and, on the 530 hpe Exclusive version, engine maps (Comfort, Eco and Sport) and cruise control, as well as being able to observe the images of the rear camera when reversing and the safety signals provided by theARAS driving assistance, like the CLOSE (Blind Spot Information System) and the LCDAS (Lane Change Decision Aid System).
The new Piaggio MP3 is the first scooter in the world with type devices AREAS - Advanced Rider Assistance System, considering an innovative driver assistance platform based on 4D Imaging Radar technology and developed by Piaggio Fast Forward, the Boston-based robotics company of the Piaggio Group. Solutions combined with the aforementioned 7-inch full color TFT instrumentation, the keyless system, connectivity with navigation and, on the 530 hpe Exclusive version, cruise control and the reversing function with video camera, as mentioned.

Figures and availability

Piaggio MP3 400 hpe we note a price of 10.499 euros, in the version Sport at 10.999 Euros. The model at the top of the range, Piaggio MP3 530 hpe Exclusive, however, is sold for 12.999 euros. The figures are fc, VAT included.
The renewed Piaggio MP3 is available in dealerships from the end of June and can be booked online, being able to choose the preferred version and color, as well as the trusted retailer where to pick it up.
