Piaggio Liberty: all new but faithful to the original project [MEGA GALLERY]

You can choose between the standard version and the sportier S

New Piaggio Liberty – After 18 years and over 900 thousand units sold, the Piaggio Liberty is reborn completely new, but consistent with the values that inspired the original project. New engines, new ergonomics, new active safety systems, new elegant lines are accompanied by large diameter wheels which, since the first example of the Piaggio Liberty, gave a compact scooter all the dynamic safety of higher class motor vehicles, contributing to its great success of the "high wheel" segment.

The dimensions of the Piaggio Liberty are growing and with them the comfort in the saddle, new and technological engines are arriving, the diameter of the front wheel is growing and thus the active safety margins are increasing. SThe new family of Piaggio iGet engines makes its debut in the new Liberty in the air-cooled version. The new iGet engines are the result of a design philosophy that sets new and more advanced levels of quality and reliability as its primary objectives, together with the containment of consumption and emissions. Every aspect of the design has been aimed at increasing the efficiency of each individual part to help maximize performance.

The new Piaggio Liberty comes in three different engines, 50, 125 and 150cc, to satisfy every mobility need, having as common points the brilliance of performance in the respective displacement classes, the quality and reliability of the engines, the economy of operation and the containment of emissions, including noise. All engines are modern 4-stroke, air-cooled and equipped with electronic injection. Every detail, from the exhaust to the internal design of the transmission cover up to the new air filter, has also been redesigned to make driving smooth, silent and comfortable. The 50, 125 and 150 cc engines, which equip the new Piaggio Liberty, are characterized by a new injection system with improved efficiency, and boast a superior delivery of both power and torque, to the advantage of recovery from low revs which translates into new brilliance and promptness of response in typical city driving, characterized by continuous stop and go. Particular attention was dedicated to the definition of the new clutch of the new Piaggio Liberty, designed and developed in order to maximize driving satisfaction. In particular, attention was paid to power management both in the small throttle opening phases and in the "stop and go" trend which is typical of large metropolises characterized by congested traffic. The results, from the driver's point of view, are a fluidity and smoothness of ride which, combined with the greater power of the engine, allow for an always pleasant, fluid and jerk-free ride.

The frame of the new Piaggio Liberty, completely new, is a robust single-cradle structure made of steel tubes and pressed sheet metal elements. The new values of torsional rigidity (+15%) and longitudinal rigidity (increased by 17%) translate for the user into decidedly better handling and driving stability worthy of higher class vehicles, with a feeling of absolute mastery of the medium. Liberty has always been a great protagonist of the "high wheel" scooter phenomenon. Faithful to its philosophy of a light and easy to handle vehicle but also stable and safe thanks to the large wheels, it continues to develop in this direction with the increase in size of the front wheel from 15" to 16", guaranteeing even better stability at the fastest speeds. Both rims are characterized by the eye-catching seven-spoke design split in the center and are made of aluminum alloy. The 14" rear rim mounts a generous 100/80 tyre, which guarantees grip and stability without compromising the legendary agility of the new Piaggio Liberty. The ABS system that equips the new model of the Italian brand in the 125 and 150 cc displacements was developed by Piaggio with Bosch. The electronic braking control system prevents the front wheel from locking in the event of sudden braking, or in the presence of surfaces with poor grip, a further and important step towards the active safety of the vehicle. The braking system, even on the 50 cc version, consists of a 240 mm front disc, nissin caliper and a reliable and tireless 140 mm rear drum.

The new Piaggio Liberty comes in two different configurations: the classic standard and the sportier S. The standard version is offered in the classic Pearl White and Midnight Blue colors alongside the new Etna Brown. Instead, Piaggio Liberty S stands out for its bold Ibis Red and Matt Titanium Gray colours. Thanks to the dedicated graphics and details such as the black wheel rims with polished channel, black luggage rack and mirrors and the red saddle stitching, the S trim level is aimed at younger and more dynamic users.
