Piaggio, the future is in AsiaPiaggio, the future is in Asia

Expansion of the global presence of the Piaggio Group, expansion of industrial and commercial activities in Asia, entry into the Indian scooter market with the premium Vespa brand, increase in the production capacity of Piaggio Vietnam and introduction on the market of two-wheelers with low environmental impact and reduced consumption. These are the guidelines that Piaggio has identified for the next 3 years. The target? Reaching the ceiling of two thousand million euros in 2014.

More precisely, the intention of the Pontedera group is to extend production capacity of Piaggio Vietnam from the current 140 thousand to 300 thousand units per year and to focus decisively on the South-East Asian area. In mature markets, the focus will be on new models. Roberto Colaninno's company has already announced the production of twenty new models including five Guzzi motorbikes, two Piaggio scooters, two Aprilia scooters, an Ape and the new Vespa 946.

And if from a technological point of view Piaggio is oriented towards the development of new internal combustion engines with low environmental impact and reduced consumption, from next year it will offer new generations of innovative engines characterized by decisive reductions in fuel consumption and polluting emissions.

Also announced was the continuation of collaboration with research centers and university institutes for the development of an offer of vehicles equipped with new generation electric engines and hybrid powertrains.
