The robot Trip, designed and created by Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF), received honorable mention at the Innovation by Design 2020 of Fast Company magazine in the “mobility” grouping.

The robot

Trip is an advanced project by Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF), the company of Piaggio Group (PIA.MI) located in Boston which deals with robotics and future mobility.
Specifically, it is a carrier-type robot "Follow me" which can carry up to 20 kg and follow the owner indoors or outdoors, reaching a maximum speed of 10 kilometers per hour for an autonomy of 4 hours, according to the indications.
It is developed in the Piaggio Fast Forward plant in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston. The first phase of marketing, which started last November on online channels, specifically concerns the US market.

The award ceremony

The winners of the event were selected from over 4.000 proposals, in over twenty categories. Also under the spotlight on the occasion were the projects, products and services of Spotify, Google and Disney+.
The jury includes well-known designers, business leaders among the most innovative companies in the world, together with editors and commentators from Fast Company. The assessments are carried out taking into account aspects such as: “functionality, originality, beauty, sustainability, user understanding, cultural impact, business impact”.

Fast Company magazine is a point of reference in the corporate media sector, paying particular attention to issues such as technological innovation, design and leadership. The awards, reported in the October/November 2020 issue, represent a tribute to those who evaluate design as a functional means of innovation.
