Roberto Colanino, President and CEO of Piaggio, and Wang Jinyu, CEO of piaggio-fotonhave signed an important preliminary agreement in Beijing for the strategic development of a new range of four-wheel light commercial vehicles. In the coming months, a team made up of representatives of the two parties will work to validate a production and commercial plan which will become operational starting from spring 2018.

This agreement aims at the development of a new range of commercial vehicles which will allow a significant expansion of its reference market, while simultaneously ensuring a strong reduction in costs. The positive growth prospects of the sector have contributed to the creation of a research and production platform that will allow the Piaggio Group to strengthen its position and grow internationally.

Different types of vehicles are envisaged in multiple versions, mini cabs and mini vans, dedicated to both the transport of people and goods, to respond to the growing demand for solutions for commercial mobility particularly suitable for intracity routes, equipped with eco-friendly engines. latest generation friendly and with top level technological equipment. All types of vehicles will have a payload of up to 1,5 tonnes. The new range of products will be made in the Piaggio Group's Italian factories, using active lines for current production. The models will be launched on the market in the next few years starting from 2019, through a distribution network aimed at maximum customer satisfaction.
