Peugeot Metropolis: the urban electron

Peugeot Metropolis is the new 3-wheel urban scooter which stands out for its style, compactness and dynamism and which can be identified as a new material: the urban electron.

Who better than Peugeot could understand the needs of motorists and two-wheel enthusiasts at the same time to propose the ideal synthesis? Who better than Peugeot is able to design the mobility of the future today?

The result of the active collaboration of the Peugeot Auto and Peugeot Scooters teams, Peugeot Metropolis concentrates all the company's kwon-how by combining the advantages of the car with those of two wheels. Stable and safe, protective and comfortable, high-performance and practical, this scooter embodies the modern vision of a new mobility in 3 dimensions.

AESTHETICS – Perfectly proportioned and balanced, Peugeot Metropolis suggests dynamism, modernity and quality through fluid lines, an eye-catching silhouette and an elegant combination of materials. Starting from the trapezoidal chrome headlights, Peugeot Metropolis cannot deny its genetic belonging to the Lion brand: it regenerates the new aesthetic codes of the company. It adopts the "Peugeot Style" grille typical of the brand's new cars. Furthermore, the presence of two front wheels brings it clearly closer to the world of the automobile.

Inserted centrally below the headlights, similar to a mouth, the "Peugeot Style" grille lightens the front by concealing the upper part of the front end and gives personality to the vehicle by underlining its "look". A true concentration of technology, Peugeot Metropolis offers two powerful 2x55W halogen lamps and includes the insertion of LEDs in each. At the rear, the two lights also inspired by the brand's most recent cars seem to merge with the bodywork. Also in this case it is the LEDs that illuminate the night, imprisoned between two light guides as sharp as 2 luminous claws. The chrome and brushed aluminum Lion further embellishes the opening of the rear compartment.
Sophisticated, Peugeot Metropolis also plays the materials card, combining pearly colours, metal and chrome.

EMOTION IN MOVEMENT – Equipped with exceptional dynamic qualities, Peugeot Metropolis gives a modern dimension to the road, revealing new driving sensations. A true technological jewel, the Dual Tilting Wheels (DTW) front end is made up of a deformable parallelogram, interconnected wheels with a central monoshock absorber and mass umper. The front end is equipped with an electronic pitch lock called anti-tilting, which can be engaged by the driver at low speed. The main elements of the front end are made of die-cast aluminum for greater rigidity and a reduction in unsprung masses which lighten the steering. The scheme is typically automotive and is freely inspired by racing cars, guaranteeing greater road holding and clean lines.

However, the Peugeot Metropolis remains a scooter with compact dimensions comparable in length, width and wheelbase to those of the Satelis which, thanks to innovative technical choices, give it impressive agility in traffic.

Peugeot Metropolis is attentive to safety and in addition to excellent road holding, it is equipped with 3 disc brakes (2×200 mm FRONT/1×240 mm REAR) managed by the integral braking system. This system called SBC (Synchro Braking System) is activated by the left lever and/or by the foot brake, required by law.

Intended for large urban centres, Peugeot Metropolis adopts aspheric rear-view mirrors whose convex surface eliminates the blind spot and allows you to move more calmly in the city.

INNOVATION – Peugeot Metropolis represents a concentration of useful technology which has the mission of significantly improving the comfort and safety of passengers, thanks to technically innovative and simple to use solutions. For example, the Smart Key, an electronic key which from a minimum distance of 1,5m is recognized by the control unit and authorizes the opening of some compartments and the starting of the vehicle.

To start, simply press the switch, turn to the ON position and operate the brake lever + start button. Inspired by the company's top-of-the-range cars, the Peugeot Metropolis is equipped with an electric parking brake with push-button control. The control button is positioned on the handlebar fairing and an electrically controlled brake caliper acts on the rear wheel.

Under the eyes of the driver, the dashboard would not look out of place on a top-of-the-range sedan. Perfectly balanced, complete with rev counter and on-board computer with indication of tire pressure control, average and minimum consumption and remaining range. Furthermore, the dashboard is designed to easily accommodate a GPS holder.

Another novelty: the 4 backlit arrow button (warning) also of automotive inspiration. Large and ergonomic, the thermoformed windshield adopts a simple and effective manual multi-position adjustment system with 2 front buttons.

COMFORTABLE PERFORMANCE – Halfway between car and scooter, Peugeot Metropolis does not neglect performance and comfort. The engine, the brand new low-friction Peugeot 400i LFE engine, develops 37,2 HP and offers a torque of 38,1 Nm, which guarantee the scooter good agility and excellent acceleration, allowing the Peugeot Metropolis to reach 150 km/h of maximum speed.

Welcoming and reassuring thanks to the seat height of just 780 mm, the driver has at his disposal, in addition to the adjustable windscreen, a backrest that can be adjusted horizontally to 40 mm for adequate lumbar support. The electronically managed Anti Tilting system of the DTW concept front axle allows roll blocking, avoiding, for example, having to put a
foot on the ground at the traffic light. The passenger benefits from an integrated backrest, profiled handles as well as ergonomic, foldable footrests.

Peugeot Metropolis is equipped with numerous and spacious compartments: integrated top case, for 1 full-face helmet, with courtesy lighting. An underseat compartment for 1 Jet helmet with visor + additional space, courtesy lighting and electric opening with Smart Key. A drawer on the back of the shield, for 1 book + 1 agenda, with electric opening with Smart Key and a pocket on the dashboard for 1 mobile phone and/or 1 bottle of water equipped with a 12V socket.
