Motorway tolls reduced by 30% for motorbikes

After a long tug of war with the institutions, the reduction of the motorway toll for motorbikes requested by the FMI arrives

An extraordinary victory for the motorcycle sector and great satisfaction on the part of the Italian Motorcycle Federation and the protagonists of the media campaign, born in the first months of 2016, to loudly ask for the reduction of motorway tolls for two-wheelers.

The Association of Motorway Concessionaires, Aiscat, after the requests received from Ministry of Transport and motorcycle associations, IMF in the lead, accepted the request to apply a dedicated tariff to motorbikes and scooters.
The tariff applied to two-wheeled vehicles will be a lower third to that of cars and you can only take advantage of this discount by activating a Telepass, combined exclusively with the license plate of the motorbike (or motorbikes).
The approved measure will be effective from August 1st, but from 15 September 2017 it will become operational with refunds for motorcyclists who have used the motorway service with the Telepass between 1 August and 15 September.
This is to allow Telepass to carry out the necessary technological adaptation.

IMF President Giovanni Copioli declared: “Undoubtedly a great result and a situation that certifies how motorcyclists are finally recognized as users with rights and not just duties. These last few days have been truly hectic in the contacts with the politics that I have followed personally, but we have finally succeeded. A great result for the entire sector which demonstrates that when there is unity among the many components of our world we can achieve concrete results."
