Motorcycle licence: the license for holders of A1 and A2 after a course without a new practical exam

As reported on the portal of Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility, the definitive approval of the so-called “Mims Decree”, according to in the space of just over ten months, it involves various aspects including revisions to the highway code. Among the measures also the issuing of the A2 or A driving license for A1 and A2 holders after a training course and without a new practical exam.

The various measures envisaged for: "reduce the administrative burdens borne by users, speed up the issuing of driving licenses, professional qualifications and the certificate of professional suitability", as indicated on the occasion.
Regarding licenses for traveling on two-wheeled motorized vehicles, it should be noted that holders of license A1 o A2 they will be able to obtain, following a specific training course and without the need for a new practical exam, the release of the license A2 o A.
The level increase is expected two years after obtaining the license already in possession, without a final practical test, but with the attending a course in a 7-hour driving school, as emerged, which includes theory and practice.
Among the other measures listed, still talking about the issuing or renewal of driving licences, the exams can be carried out by all trained Mims employees and not only by those of the relevant offices; furthermore, the paper coupon to be affixed to the circulation certificates will no longer be sent by post to those who own mopeds and change residence, the update will automatically appear in the national vehicle archive. Furthermore, in the case of a renewal of driving documents that have expired for more than five years, the holder will have to pass a new practical driving test to verify suitability to drive, without taking the theory test again.
Still speaking about two wheels and sustainable mobility, we also highlight that: "pedal-assisted bicycles that are tampered with are treated as equivalent to mopeds, with the consequent subjection to the obligations envisaged for the latter (number plate, insurance, license) and with the provision of specific sanctions for those who modify them and those who use them".
Electric bicycles and scooters are included in the vehicle classification for a clearer legal framework, as indicated.
