Pope Francis and Harley-Davidson set…solidarity in motion

A Harley with Pope Francis' signature on the tank doesn't come along every day, in fact it's truly an object... of worship! This is the splendid one Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide Custom given to the Pope during the party to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the House of Milwaukee, and which he himself decided to give as a gift to Caritas of Rome; in addition also the black leather jacket, always custom style, size XL, embroidered logos, zip and piece celebrating the 110th anniversary of the American brand.

A truly precious Dyna, Pope Bergoglio's motorbike, since it was beaten for 241.500 € from the Bonhams auction house in Paris, to which should be added i 57.500 € of the leather nail. These are remarkable figures if you consider that the object of the auction is a very recent motorbike whose value stands at 15.400 euros for the basic model. But in any case, it goes without saying that these are unique pieces, autographed by the Pope's hand with a silver marker. Signature visible at chest height on the jacket, while on the bike it was made on the large tank under which the air-cooled Twin Cam 96 twin-cylinder pulsates.

The sums raised will be donated toDon Luigi Hostel in Liegro and at the soup kitchen at Termini station in Rome, both managed by the Roman Caritas. The final objective is the creation of a shelter but part of the sum will also be allocated to other Lazio Caritas still involved in dealing with daily emergencies, such as bad weather. In 2012, 1.574 homeless people found temporary shelter at the Hostel, for a total of 63.111 overnight stays. A gift that demonstrates the Pope's profound attention towards the poor and needy.

The motorbike remained in Europe while the leather jacket made its way to South America, and this testifies to the great interest aroused by the Holy Father's initiative.
