NGO Bambini nel Deserto Onlus, 1500 km on motorbike to support the humanitarian emergency

NGO Children in the Desert Onlus – A group of motorcyclists from the BnD Biker Team will travel around Italy in August from Sicily to the Alps, approximately 1500 km, recounting the activities in Africa of the humanitarian organization NGO Bambini nel Deserto Onlus to raise awareness among two-wheel and off-road enthusiasts to the NGO's activities in the Black Continent.

The beautiful two-wheeled initiative, with the support of Motul, will showcase the activities of the humanitarian organization NGO Bambini nel Deserto Onlus. Two BMWs, an 800 GS and an S 650 GS, and a KTM 690 R are the motorbikes that next August with their centaurs will begin the journey starting from Palermo, passing through the Apennine ridge, where they will join four other passionate motorcyclists, with two Hondas, an XR 650 and an Africa Twin 650, a BMW HP2 enduro and a Yamaha Supertenerè 750, until returning to their homes in Piedmont, Lombardy and Veneto. “The idea was born from the desire to combine the passion for motorbikes and off-road vehicles with the desire to make BnD's activities known as much as possible. So I made the proposal to other motorcyclists and we decided to leave for this adventure." The route, which will start from Palermo, will see the participation of Sicilian centaurs, who will join the expedition for the island stages and will be an opportunity to talk about the activities of Children in the Desert, both in the stops under some trees and in front of a good beer." commented Diego Facoetti, expert motorcyclist and volunteer of the NGO Bambini nel Deserto Onlus.

This great adventure will be a sort of general exam for a much more challenging project for motorcyclists and their two wheels. Children in the Desert, in fact, is working on Bike4Shael, a larger project, which will merge with other activities already active in the Sahel countries where BnD operates. The project involves an expedition of motorbikes and support cars, landing in Morocco towards Burkina Faso to arrive in Ouagadougou, the capital, where it will be welcomed into Garage Italia, a training project for young adolescents. The route includes stages of approach in Mauritania and Mali, visiting the places where projects are active and delivering material.
