Among the strengths of the Pirelli PHANTOM Sportscomp are the excellent handling, the precision in trajectory changes, the first-rate behavior in acceleration and braking, the high power transmission capacity to the ground and the regularity of combined wear with excellent mileage. In addition to the 120/70 R17 TL 58V front and 180/55 R17 TL 73V rear set as original equipment to Yamaha XSR700, the Sportscomp range is available in the sizes 100/90 – 18 front and 150/70 R17 rear and, starting from August, in the same sizes supplied with the Yamaha XSR700, but with a speed index (W) which allows its use for classic/vintage style tuning and customization of all sports and naked motorbikes which include the speed index in brackets in the manual.

The new Pirelli PHANTOM Sportscomp tires adopted by the new Yamaha XSR700 will allow the new model of the Japanese brand to raise the maximum speed limit from 230 to 240 km/h. The Pirelli PHANTOM Sportscomp combine the historic tread design of the PHANTOM line with the modern technology of high performance road tires and for this reason they use a steel belt arranged at zero degrees of inclination with respect to the direction of travel of the tire. This structural element, associated with one or more light and resistant rayon radial carcass plies, guarantees handling and grip characteristics even at high speeds. The result is a stable and uniform tire in terms of ground pressure distribution, capable of optimizing the footprint at different lean angles on the road. As regards the tread pattern, the new tires chosen for the new Yamaha XSR700 feature a wavy longitudinal groove, present on both the front and rear, which promotes rapid drainage of the layer of water found under the tyre, ensuring grip in wet conditions. The tire has a sporty appearance with "semi-slick" design characteristics.
