New BMW K 1600 B, six-cylinder emotions and charm in the exclusive bagger style [PHOTO]

New BMW K 1600 B – With the presentation of the “Concept 101” study at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in spring 2015 BMW Motorrad has written a fascinating new chapter in the history of BMW Motorrad Concept Bikes. Now debuting in the form of a production motorcycle is the realization of BMW Motorrad's interpretation of endless highway riding, the dream of freedom and independence and the expression of “Grand American Touring”, the new K 1600 B bagger.

In its quality as an exclusive and powerful motorcycle, with a strong emotional charge, the new K 1600 B, equipped with the well-known six-cylinder in-line engine with a power of 118 kW (160 HP), symbolizes, similarly to the "Concept 101" study, the motto “The Spirit of the Open Road”. The K 1600 B is synonymous with elegance, strength and luxury on two wheels and transforms every road, every exit and every moment into a particularly intense experience. In terms of formal language, the new K 1600 B, painted completely in black (blackstorm metallic / black for the chassis components and the powertrain) expresses its personality in the guise of a bagger, therefore in the livery of an exclusive custom-bike , as they are encountered especially in the United States. The characteristics of the baggers are the teardrop silhouette whose highest point is the front fairing, the slender line that descends towards the tail and the low mounted side cases with the integrated rear light units, so as to be part of the "streamlining", in the most authentic American style. New chrome-plated tailpipes, oriented parallel to the road, integrate very organically into the design line of the bagger.

The new K 1600 B, which on a technical level is based on the six-cylinder BMW K 1600 GT touring bike, stands out for its spectacular lines, which slope towards the rear along the completely redesigned tail section. The bagger not only appears particularly low and slender but, thanks to the new rear frame, also offers a significantly lower passenger seat height. Newly divided side cases and liftable rear mudguard for easier wheel removal. The new division of the side cases, with a lower lid and deeper case body, allows for particularly comfortable and efficient loading of the luggage. The rear mudguard can be lifted, making it easier to remove the rear wheel.

The fairing with the short and dynamic windshield makes the new K 1600 B particularly imposing and muscular. To ensure highly efficient protection against wind and weather, the hull sides have been set back significantly from the deflectors downwards. Deflectors also protect the driver's hands. The two rear-view mirrors, equipped with large surfaces with an aspherical section that ensures an excellent view of the vehicles behind, integrate harmoniously into the formal language. Thanks to the Dynamic ESA electronically controlled suspension and the “Road” and “Cruise” control modes, the new K 1600 B brings together comfort, stability and driving dynamics in a majestic style, thus providing an incomparable driving experience. In the standard “Road” setting, the damping adjustment occurs fully automatically, thus ensuring the highest level of comfort and the best possible traction on almost all road surfaces. In the "Cruise" damping mode, the new K 1600 B provides very soft damping, which in turn translates into a particularly marked sensation of comfort when driving at low speed.
