Nico Cereghini: “Custom bikes are truly 'cool'” [EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]

Motor Bike Expo – Many personalities from politics, entertainment and journalism were present at the vernissage that followed the inauguration of Motor Bike Expo. Among the latter there was also Nico Cereghini, well-known journalist, always attentive to market proposals as well as motorsport news.

Ten years of Motor Bike Expo: what an effect walking around the stands had on you

“It's a beautiful world, in great turmoil. This is a well done fair that is growing more and more. You can see the passion of the people who work in the sector."

Have you ever driven real specials?

“For me, different. Lately I've tried the Urban GS and BMW's Café Racer. They are beautiful bikes, even if I prefer more tested bikes, but I'm a little warped by use and time."

Why is there this return to a philosophy that is linked in some way to the past?

“Because the bike had lost a bit of personality. The great powers arrived, then electronics to be able to dominate it, while now there is a desire to have a bike of substance that leaves the control to the rider and makes you feel cool".

What struck you in particular?

“Mister Martini always does great work, but I have seen many beautiful things.”

On Monday they presented the new Ducati MotoGP. What impression did it make on you?

“For now it doesn't seem very different to last year, but a new chassis will arrive in February. If they can make it more drivable they can really aim for the title. They never hold back and rightly so given last year's results."

Would you bet on Dovizioso or Lorenzo?

“On Dovi. In Ducati they say that in the second part of the season he grew, but in my opinion we didn't see much. However, he remains a great champion."

Who can be the surprise of the season?

“Morbidelli can do well, team permitting. I hope Petrucci does well, but I think Zarco is the one to keep an eye on."
